Another EV truck maker is under pressure ⚡ UK EV truck maker Tevva Hydrogen Electric Trucks is close to appointing administrators, according to a few press reports. This comes after competitor Arrival shut its doors in the UK earlier in the year. There are still a few other firms out there - Bristol Superlight, Volta Trucks - to name a few outside the large truck companies (Tata Group, DAF Trucks NV). Why are EV trucks struggling to make their business models work? Lack of capital to support the concept? Failure to reach the commercial production stage? Difficult to secure end-buyers? I wonder if EV truck fleets could follow the route of aircraft leasing... assets owned by capital providers and leased to operators. Electric utility company E.ON and truck and bus manufacturer MAN will build around 400 electric truck charging stations at 170 locations across Europe. Most will be built in Germany, but stations will also be built in Austria, Czechia, Denmark, Italy, Poland, Hungary, and the UK.   The first 80 will be operational by the end of 2025.   The EU has recently decided to reduce CO2 emissions in heavy commercial vehicles by 65% in 2035 and 90% in 2040 compared to 2019 levels.   Therefore, the automotive industry has begun investing heavily in electric vehicles and charging infrastructure.   MAN will produce its first series of electric trucks with a range of up to 800 kilometres later this year. It also plans to put its first test fleet of electric coaches on the road in 2025.
