Christmas can be a challenging time for young single mums, which is why volunteers who can host sessions for our young people are essential. Our lovely volunteer recently came in to spread Christmas joy by making gingerbread with our members - it went down a treat 👩🍳 The activities we host cover a wide range of essential life skills, including maintaining a home, parenting, healthy relationships, budgeting, eating well, and general health and well-being. Many young people who come to YMCA Southampton do not have anything but the clothes on their back and a small bag of belongings 👤 This was a huge point of conversation at the SleepOut event hosted by Specsavers back in October, as the participants noted how they struggled being away from daily essentials for one night, yet, the young people at risk of homelessness we support, deal with this constantly. It was truly eye-opening to see how much we take for granted 🏠 Following the Sleepout, we received a donation of £707 from Specsavers in support of our Southampton Housing, which allows us to continue our support.
