🎄✨ Last weekend, we had the absolute pleasure of hosting a very special Christmas party at Places Leisure Camberley in partnership with Face Everything and Rise (FEAR), a charity supporting those living with a central line or on artificial nutrition. 🧡 Over 60 families joined us for a day packed with festive fun - soft play, climbing, swimming, and our popular active play & bounce facilities. For many, it was their first time being able to enjoy activities like swimming, which can often be tricky for those with a central line or on artificial nutrition. Seeing the smiles and joy on their faces was truly magical. ✨ We’re so proud to create spaces where everyone can make happy, healthy memories. And the best part? This incredible event will now be an annual tradition at Places Leisure Camberley! 🥳 Because creating inclusive places is at the heart of everything we do. 🧡 #BecauseCommunityMatters #WeAreCommunity 📸 Thank you to Face Everything and Rise for capturing these wonderful moments!

We're pleased to announce that we have been successful in extending our partnership with Maldon District Council, who we currently partner with to operate Blackwater Leisure Centre, Dengie Hundred Sports Centre, and Maldon Splash Park! 🥳 Our operation of these centres has been extended on a 20-year term, commencing early next year. During this time, we will be delivering some exciting investment plans which will transform the leisure facilities and build on our current offering. We’re delighted to see our Managing Director, Belinda Steward, contributing to such vital work with ukactive! 🌟 Physical activity has a profound impact on wellbeing, so it’s exciting to see conversations about embedding it into prevention, treatment, and care programmes—especially as the Government develops its 10-year NHS health plan. 💪 Together, the NHS, Government, and industry leaders can drive real change, tackling inactivity and improving health outcomes for Communities nationwide. 🧡 #WellbeingMatters
Leaders from the NHS, Government, and the physical activity sector joined ukactive in the Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park on Friday, for an event, titled ‘Designing a Blueprint for Physical Activity within Integrated Care Systems (ICSs)'. The event saw representatives from NHS Integrated Care, Department of Health and Social Care, Department for Culture, Media and Sport, Active Partnerships, 10 Downing Street and ukactive's Membership, come together in a significant step towards embedding physical activity into ICS strategies to help increase activity levels and drive better health outcomes nationwide. Our Head of Swimming and Sport, Mark Haslam, had the pleasure of attending the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Swimming last week! 🏊♂️ Shaping fresh priorities in the world of swimming with the new Chair, Jonathan Brash MP, was first on the list of to do's. The group then spoke about the wide range of issues which pools up and down the country continue to face, such as closures and the need for investment. There was also a review on the national curriculum and its potential impact on swimming and water safety in schools, where the group all landed on the importance of swimming remaining a critical life skill. During the day's meetings, Mark also got to spend time with the triple Olympic gold medallist swimmer, Tom Dean! 🌟 We're so proud to know that Mark, and many other passionate, like-minded People, have a seat at the table where essential discussions on swimming provision are taking place at a Government level. We want to do everything we can to ensure Communities can continue to access swimming lessons and public pools, so the link between swimming and its positive impact on national wellbeing must remain centre stage for decision makers. 🧡 #BecauseCommunityMatters #WeAreCommunity

🌟 We were thrilled to welcome BBC News to Riverside Leisure Centre in Norfolk to shine a spotlight on our Cancer Rehab programme! 🌟 In partnership with Big C Cancer Charity, these weekly sessions provide a safe, supportive space for members of our Communities who have been affected by cancer. Whether it's before or after diagnosis, we’re here to help participants on their journey to recovery - boosting physical and mental wellbeing every step of the way. 💪🧡 A special shoutout to Fitness Manager David Lane, whose passion brought this programme to life! As David shared with BBC Radio Norfolk, this initiative has been a long-standing dream of his, and now it’s making a real difference in People’s lives. 🙌 Cancer takes a huge toll, and we know that generic exercise plans aren’t always enough. That’s why bespoke programmes like this are so important - helping participants rebuild strength, share experiences over a cuppa, and find their Community. ☕💬 Check out the full story here 👉 https://lnkd.in/eMq2gSh5 #WeAreCommunity #BecauseCommunityMatters #CancerRehab Image credit: Paul Moseley

Ensuring that everyone who learns to swim with us can gain important, life saving water safety skills from the best facilities and People is vital for us, that's why we're investing in our swimming teachers. 🧡 Developing highly skilled teachers is a pressing matter, so our new five-year partnership with Swim England and the Institute of Swimming will look at aquatic workforce development and provide support to our People who are involved in delivering swimming lessons. Mark Haslam, our Head of Swimming and Sports, says it best: “With Swim England research showing that more and more children and young people are missing out on the opportunity to have swimming lessons due to a lack of teachers, there has never been more urgency to develop highly skilled teachers...with our experienced and dedicated workforce, we are best placed to work with Swim England and the Institute of Swimming so all children and adults across our Communities have the opportunities they deserve.” Read more about the news here 👉 https://lnkd.in/diQS8Bxy #BecauseCommunityMatters #WeAreCommunity

We've loved partnering with Women in Sport for their #TimeTogether campaign again this year! 💪 There is so much power in the bonding opportunities that come from mums and mum-like figures making time to get active with their daughters or daughter-like figures. Throughout the last couple of weeks, we've enjoyed gathering stories from them and seeing the fun, laughter, and special memories that arise from exercising together - it's what #TimeTogether is all about. Women in Sport's research shows that 64% of girls will have quit sport by the time they finish puberty and 38% of women aged 45-55 do not meet recommended activity guidelines, so amplifying the value of an active lifestyle for girls and midlife women has never been so important. Encouraging better relationships with exercise will help drive a healthier, more active future for the next generation of girls too! 🧡 Meet our mum and daughter duos who have found positive, active ways to spend #TimeTogether: https://lnkd.in/ejE4dYcy #ItsNeverTooLate #BecauseCommunityMatters #WeAreCommunity

Giving my daughter the opportunities I didn’t have 💬 Meet Sukanya and Annah – a powerhouse duo redefining the typical narrative of what a mum-daughter relationship looks like. Growing up with three sisters, Sukanya didn’t have many opportunities to play; sport was school PE, and that was it. But as a mum, she’s changing the game for her daughter. Annah took up cricket, following in her older brother’s footsteps, and now plays at county level. With two cricket-loving kids, Sukanya has spent many hours at the local cricket club and has even started playing herself. Sukanya’s journey of rediscovering sport through her daughter’s passions has been a chance to create a sense of belonging in sport that she has never felt before. Their story goes to show that it’s never too late to try something new – you never know, you just might love it!💕 Want to try out something new with to spend active #TimeTogether with your daughter?
