Christmas is around the corner and whilst this is a joyous time of year for many, December does bring it’s challenges, most significantly is the struggle to disconnect from work, with many employees struggling to manage workloads as the year draws to a close. Lesley Cooper's article for Workplace Wellbeing Professional, highlights the importance of the the proposed introduction of the ‘Right to Disconnect’ law. A similar model that was adopted in Ireland, Belgium and most recently Australia allows employees to separate from work and not be required to engage in work-related communication outside of their usual working hours. Research shows that currently 67% of UK employees feel unable to fully switch off from work or maintain personal boundaries. As Christmas approaches, it is clear that this time of year highlights high- stress levels, particularly amongst UK employees. Research in recent years has shown that an incredible 79% of UK employees find December to be the most stress-inducing month, with work deadines, busy social calendars and the cost-of-living all having an impact on our well-being as we head into the festive season. Here’s how you can foster healthy well-being practices within your workforce to avoid the so-called ‘Festive Fatigue’ 🎄 Encourage employees to set clear priorities and focus on high-impact tasks. 🎄 Promote realistic expectations to avoid last-minute stress. 🎄 Remind staff of available support systems, such as employee assistance programs or well-being resources. 🎄 Promote regular breaks and discourage excessive overtime. 🎄 Encourage unplugging after work hours to recharge fully.
