The Regional Transport Partnership for the South East of Scotland
About us
SEStran is a Regional Transport Partnership consisting of eight local authorities in South East Scotland, namely Borders, East Lothian, West Lothian, Midlothian, Edinburgh, Fife, Falkirk, and Clackmannanshire. The primary objective of SEStran is to establish a transportation system in South East Scotland that facilitates effective business operations and enhances accessibility to healthcare, education, public services, and employment opportunities for all residents in the region. South East Scotland is expected to witness a 10% population increase by 2024, leading to a surge in transportation demand and the potential for heightened traffic congestion and pollution. SEStran is addressing this challenge by: Improving and extending public transportation services to foster broad acceptance. Advocating for smart travel options, such as cycling and walking. Reducing the number of solo commuter car trips and overall reliance on cars. Alleviating greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants. Implementation Strategy: SEStran's core initiative for the next 15 years is the Regional Transport Strategy, which encompasses four key objectives: 1. Economy: Ensuring that transport facilities promote sustainable growth, regional prosperity, and vitality. 2. Accessibility: Improving accessibility for individuals with limited transport options, especially those in rural areas. 3. Environment: Ensuring environmentally sustainable development. 4. Safety & Health: Promoting a healthier and more active population in the SEStran area.

We’re pleased to be collaborating with local authorities across the south-east of Scotland to support the transition to electric vehicles. By working together, we’re helping to create a comprehensive public electric vehicle charging network that will make it easier for everyone to make the switch to cleaner, greener travel. Transport Scotland is currently consulting on their Draft Electric Vehicle Public Charging Network Implementation Plan. Have your say and help shape the future of electric vehicle charging across Scotland. You can respond to the consultation and share your views here: https://lnkd.in/eRFq6XKP #ElectricVehicles #EVs #SEStran #EVCharging #ElectricVehicle #EV

We thoroughly enjoyed the interesting and thought-provoking presentation from Lukas Princ, MBA, AMRAeS from HITRANS about the role of sustainable aviation technologies for freight and logistics. https://lnkd.in/eW62vr7a
Recently our business manager Lukas Princ, MBA, AMRAeS joined SEStran (South East of Scotland Transport Partnership) to present at its logistics and freight forum. Sharing our focus on increased connectivity and reducing emissions, the event proved to be an engaging discussion about the challenges and opportunities in realising more efficient modes of freight transport. With SATE partners developing paradigm-shifting technologies that hold significant benefits for our environment and communities, it's exciting to discuss the implementation of #SustainableAviation practices with industry colleagues.

Huge thanks to Paths for All for letting us present our future plans for People and Place and funding for community organisations at their Community Project Learning event earlier this week. It was also fantastic to hear about the variety of community projects that have been encouraging more people to walk, wheel or cycle, with the support of the Smarter Place Smarter Choices open fund and the Community Project Transition fund. The event was a good opportunity to connect with the SEStran-based community organisations and discuss the future of community funding. #CPLearning #SEStran #ActiveTravel #Walking #Cycling #Wheeling Sandra Lavergne Michael Melton

Last week, we had a big focus on real time passenger information and the important role it plays in enabling people to travel confidently on public transport. On Thursday, we were at the Trapeze Group Europe / UK Public User Forum 2024 in Birmingham, where we had an interesting day hearing about real time passenger information systems developed for Transport for London, D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership and Transport Scotland. Along with The City of Edinburgh Council we also shared our experiences of real time passenger information in the south-east of Scotland. And on Friday, we visited Journeo plc for a demonstration and catch up on the real time passenger information screens in our region. Both great days discussing mobility solutions that help people travel sustainably! #SEStran #SustainableTravel #RealTimeInformation #PublicTransport Rebecca Smith Keith Fisken MCIHT CMILT

We have a very enjoyable day yesterday at the Public Health Scotland Public Health and Sustainable Transport Conference. We were inspired by the fantastic sessions showcasing the great work taking place in Scotland on transport and health, and the essential links across sectors to address challenges such as transport inequalities and transport poverty. We were delighted to present our work on access to health and to demonstrate the importance of a collaborative approach with the NHS boards in our region (NHS Forth Valley, NHS Fife, NHS Lothian and NHS Borders), NHS Assure and the Scottish Ambulance Service. #SEStran #TransportToHealth #AccessToHealth #SustainableTransport #PublicHealth #TransportAndHealth Sandra Lavergne
