    Since 1999 the Santander Foundation, an independent charity supported by Santander UK, has donated over £100 million to important causes across the UK. Over the last few years, the Foundation has been focused on supporting small UK charities to alleviate financial and digital inequalities in their local communities, alongside investing in learning for system, practice and policy change. Working with their partner Media Trust, the Foundation has supported their charity partners to increase their strategic communication skills, creating powerful short films about their work in the process. These films will enable the charities to better communicate about the support they provide, which I hope will help with important activity including fundraising and local engagement. This video provides a small glimpse into the amazing work the Foundation’s charity partners are delivering. We at Santander UK are looking forward to continuing to work with the Foundation in 2025.

  • 3 years of having Macmillan Cancer Support as our charity partner, along with having a very good excuse to regularly bake, sell and host Coffee Mornings, has come to end. Together we've raised over £1.7 million, gifted 2,000+ care packages for people experiencing cancer treatment and trained 2,000+ customer-facing colleagues to give greater support to customers affected by cancer. Thank you to all of our customers and colleagues who have held fundraisers and donated over the years. Together we've funded around 51,000 hours of Macmillan Nurse's time and it wouldn’t have been possible without you. Thank you 💚❤️

    On the eve of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities #IDPD, it is worth looking at what Santander UK is doing for deaf people. One in three adults in the UK are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus. People like Jane, the mother of one of our Santander UK colleagues who works in the mortgage team in Bradford. As Jane explains in the video, she has experienced many barriers as a deaf person and recognizes that communication can be difficult. That is why we are proud to have implemented various initiatives to help deaf customers interact with us across all of our channels, putting them on an equal footing with the rest of our customers: - We partnered with SignVideo in 2015, a service that helps deaf customers communicate in their preferred language, both from home and at our branches, where customers can instantly connect to a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter. - In 2024, Santander UK extended the SignVideo service to be available 24/7 and to be able to offer a call-back facility to BSL users. - Earlier this year, we also launched Signly, which translates our website into BSL.
