If you're getting #GenerativeAI to write first drafts, which you then edit, you're using it wrong. The good news? You're far from alone. A lot of marketers have got off on the wrong foot with #AI. (At least, that's how I interpret findings from McKinsey & Company that say writing first drafts it #GenAI's most popular business use.) But at the AI writing training I run with Propolis and B2B Marketing, delegates always come to the same conclusion: However good your prompt, AI-first writing is a fast (though less fast than you'd think) route to bad content. The speakers I saw at #MPB2B found something similar. Ahava Leibtag spent *an entire year* trying to coax AI into imitating her writing style, with no success. And Andy Crestodina said AI may as well stand for "Average Information" and "Assume Incorrect". This makes sense, right? Think about the things that high-performing B2B content has in common: unique value, audience awareness, and a strong point of view. Now map that against the respective strengths and weaknesses of a human writer, and a Large Language Model. ...*BUT*... What if we flipped it? What if, instead of spending time trying to make ChatGPT or Copilot a better writer, we used them to make *us* better writers instead? By breaking down the tasks involved in writing, we can find lots of small, discreet ways the AI can help (as Andy put it, "Another Input"). It can make us faster, more efficient... and, yes, even more distinctive and original too. There's a name for that approach. And, hilariously, AI image generators are *terrible* at drawing it... #ChatGPT #AICopywriting #B2BMarketing
