🌍 Exciting News from OxCarbon! 🌍 We are thrilled to share that Marex’s investment in the Global Mangrove Trust (GMT) mangrove restoration and conservation project in North Sumatra is now insured by Kita, a specialist in carbon insurance and Lloyds of London Coverholder. This is a significant step in bringing high-quality carbon credits to the market. This mangrove restoration and conservation project, launched under the OxCarbon Standard, focuses on restoring and conserving vital mangrove ecosystems, with social programs and livelihoods integrated into the conservation strategy. Applying Kita’s Carbon Purchase Protection Cover to the project’s carbon credits adds a layer of security and acts as a stamp of confidence on the quality of the project itself. Kita is delighted to announce that we have provided insurance for Marex's investment into Global Mangrove Trust's high-integrity mangrove project in North Sumatra. The project was launched under the OxCarbon Standard by Yagasu (Yayasan Gajah Sumatra) and The Global Mangrove Trust, with support from Marex. It focuses on the restoration and conservation of coastal mangrove ecosystems, with livelihood generation and social programmes integral to the conservation approach. Kumi Analytics Pte Ltd provides verification using satellites, AI and on-the-ground monitoring. This policy reflects the recent expansion of our Carbon Purchase Protection Cover to Mangroves (in addition to the existing policies we offer for Afforestation, Biochar and Enhanced Rock Weathering). This collaboration marks a significant leap forward in setting new standards of integrity and efficiency for Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) projects developed by individual, company or community proponents. 🌱 🤝 Together, we are harnessing innovative science, cutting-edge modelling, and remote sensing data to ensure robust, independent, and transparent verification of carbon removals. Our goal? 🚀 Kita launches Buffer as a Service 🚀 Buffer as a Service (BaaS) is independent buffer pool management for Carbon Standards, employing active risk controls, asset management best practices, and carefully calibrated project-specific risk assessments for buffer contributions, based on insurance underwriting criteria. While BaaS is for the Carbon Standard, it has the dual benefit of rewarding high-quality project developers, lowering operating costs for both. We are proud to be working with OxCarbon as the first Carbon Standard to launch this service. This partnership is representative of the next evolution of buffer pools, with technical management and risk assessment more akin to financial industry norms. “Kita is proud to partner with OxCarbon on Buffer as a Service.
