In mid-September 2024, GMT, in collaboration with Yagasu (Yayasan Gajah Sumatra), conducted workshops across four villages in North Sumatra—Pulau Kampai, Pangkalan Siata, Halaban, and Salahaji. These workshops engaged local communities, including farmers, fishers, village leaders, and women artisans, to co-create solutions addressing deforestation and sustainable livelihood challenges. Through active participation, the communities applied the "Action Chain" framework to connect behaviors to outcomes and map out steps toward change. Led by experts and grounded in local perspectives, the workshops introduced actionable frameworks and community-driven ideas like the Gearbank initiative to support sustainable fishing and mangrove-based crafts. This launching ceremony was attended by the Acting Regent of langkat District, Mr. H. M.
