OXCCU TECH LTD
Renewable Energy Semiconductor Manufacturing
Converting CO₂ into fuels, chemicals and plastics.
About us
At OXCCU, we are at the forefront of scientific advancement, shaping the future of sustainable energy and fuel, chemical and plastic production. We combine captured CO2 with H2 from water and renewable electricity, producing lower carbon or circular fuels, chemicals, and biodegradable plastics. Carbon is an incredibly useful element, especially when used in hydrocarbons. Our mission is to enable future generations the continued use of hydrocarbon fuels but without their climate impact. Despite the growing prevalence of renewable energy, fossil fuels still accounted for 82% of the 604 EJ of primary energy the world needed in 2022. To limit the impact of greenhouse gas emissions, we must transition to zero-emission sources within just 30 years. While some sectors, such as power, are already on this path, not all sectors are easy-to-decarbonise using renewable electricity directly. In particular, long-distance aviation transport fuels, with energy density requirements beyond current batteries, and petrochemicals, where carbon molecules become the multitude of products we use in our everyday lives. Here is where OXCCU offers a unique solution. Our inexpensive catalysts work with remarkable efficiency and selectivity, transforming CO2 into valuable hydrocarbons through a groundbreaking one-step process. CO2 can be transformed into e- fuels, sustainable chemicals and biodegradable plastics. This is the future of truly circular technological advancements. One where people can fly, use household chemicals and buy disposable and biodegradable plastic products without concerns about their impact on climate change or waste disposal. The company was spun out from the University of Oxford in 2021 by co-founders Andrew Symes whilst working at IP Group and Jane Jin whilst working at OUI, and is underpinned by scientific breakthroughs published in top-tier scientific journals by the academic founders, Professor Peter Edwards, Dr Tiancun Xiao and Dr Benzhen Yao.

Our co-founder Dr Jane Jin had the pleasure of speaking on stage at CleanTechForum in Paris this week to discuss how OXCCU TECH LTD is fuelling the future by revolutionising the way we produce fuels, chemicals, and biodegradable plastics. Our technology offers a direct one-step process capable of converting CO2 to jet fuel range hydrocarbons. The result? A new world of fuels without fossil carbon and cleaner because of it. #CleanTechForumEurope Cleantech Group

I often get asked about e-methanol…and especially since the news on Flagship One which I was very sorry to see. Does e-methanol have a role as a 100% fuel especially for shipping? Could e-methanol be the best intermediate to make on the way to making PtL SAF, and how would that route (often called MTJ) compare to both the traditional CO F-T route and OXCCU TECH LTD’s new CO2 F-T route? And what about e-methanol to displace fossil methanol in chemicals and plastics? I sat down with Hydrocarbon Processing to discuss these - link below for those interested. https://lnkd.in/eHCKggFH #PtL #emethanol #efuels #SAF

We're excited to share that OXCCU TECH LTD was featured on the latest edie podcast! In the episode we discuss how decarbonising aviation is a significant challenge, with limited low-carbon options scaling to meet global demands. At OXCCU, we’re working to address this by combining captured CO2 with H2 from water and renewable electricity to produce sustainable hydrocarbon products. Our Co-Founders, Andrew Symes and Dr Jane Jin explore the motivation behind OXCCU’s mission, the key to reducing the cost of PtL and CO2-derived fuels, and the importance of OXCCU's unique one-step technology. Scaling e-fuels is essential to reaching net zero, and we know it takes technology innovation and strong partnerships to drive this transformation. 🎧 Listen here: https://lnkd.in/eDn_6uXp

OXCCU is proud to announce its collaboration with the RISE coalition in support of the Back British SAF campaign. The campaign calls on the Government to fast-track the SAF Revenue Support Mechanism Bill to ensure the UK meets its target of having five SAF plants under construction by 2025. We're pleased to be amongst a coalition of the UK’s leading airlines, airports and fuel producers to accelerate the UK aviation industry’s path to net zero. Renewable Transport Fuel Association #SAF #Aviation
The Back British SAF campaign is now live—and we’re calling on the UK government to take swift action and back a domestic Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) industry. 🌍✈️ Sustainable Aviation Fuel production is one of the fastest-growing industries on the planet as the aviation sectors races to decarbonise. If Britain is to seize the thousands of jobs and economic growth that a domestic SAF industry offers, it needs to act swiftly to attract vital investment. Launched by Rise, a coalition of Britain’s leading airlines, airports, manufacturers, producers, and engineers, Back British SAF is urging the government to accelerate its timetable for proposed SAF legislation, helping to provide the certainty investors need to take the leap and support the construction of SAF plants across the UK. A thriving domestic SAF industry would have huge benefits for Britain, injecting £1.8 billion into the economy and creating over 10,000 jobs across the country by 2030. This initiative will also future-proof the UK’s world-leading aviation sector, which employs over 536,000 people. With the global race for SAF intensifying, it’s crucial that Britain leads the charge in this vital shift. Follow us to discover how SAF can revolutionize British aviation and how you can support the Back British SAF campaign. #BackBritishSAF #Aviation #SustainableAviationFuel

I had the pleasure of writing a thought leadership article for the recent issue of Global Hydrogen Review. You can read the full article on pages 65-70 here - https://bit.ly/3YasADn In it I discuss the vital role of hydrogen in reducing emissions in sectors which cannot use green electricity directly, but how the hydrogen will often not be the fuel, rather it will be in the fuel, still attached to carbon. It's simplifying the making of these fuels we're focussed on at OXCCU TECH LTD #Hydrogen #SAF #Efuels #EnergyTransition

It is an exciting time for us to showcase University of Oxford's breakthrough catalyst technology to convert CO2 and hydrogen into #sustainable aviation fuel at scale. The future of fuel lies in e-fuels, which will be pivotal to the global energy transition. Oxford University Innovation’s early contributions were instrumental in accelerating OXCCU's innovation. Thanks for all the supports received from OUI as well as Oxford's local innovation eco-system University of Oxford, Begbroke Science Park, and Oxford Airport. I also would like to thank Brendan Ludden, who was my line-manager at OUI and a great mentor for his encouragement to me in pursuing my passion of #climate-tech during my time at OUI.
