To help new homeowners understand what snags are (and aren’t) and what they should expect from their developer when resolving snagging issues, we’ve produced the Homeowner Guide to Snagging, which addresses: 👉 Common snagging issues and how to handle them 👉 The differences between snags and defects 👉 What does not count as a snagging issue 👉 What is included in the builder’s warranty 👉 How to prevent snagging issues 👉 Steps to take if snagging issues are not resolved This is the first in a series of Consumer Guides to help support new homeowners during the homebuying and settling in period. Check it out here 👉 https://lnkd.in/etcCazUC #newhomes #newhomesqualityboard #consumerprotection #newhomesombudsman #consumerstandards #housebuilders #newhomesqualitycode #snagging #snags #quality #customersatisfaction #customerexperience

We are pleased that the Government has today (22 October 2024) published their response to the Competition and Market Authority (CMA) Housebuilding Market Study report. We welcome the Government’s decision to have a single mandatory consumer code for all housebuilders and activating the New Homes Ombudsman Scheme for all consumers. This decision will help to create the level playing field for all new homebuyers; offering the same route for redress and protections offered through the Ombudsman. It will mean that all developers are required to adhere to the same framework (the Code) in respect of quality and customer service provided to all new homebuyers. We will be engaging with government and all stakeholders over the coming weeks and months to help put this into effect. #newhomes #newhomesqualityboard #consumerprotection #newhomesombudsman #housebuilders #consumerstandards

It is crucial that all new-build homeowners are protected by the Ombudsman. Currently, 55% of new builds are registered with the service. With the support of the UK Government, registration with the New Homes Quality Board and the New Homes Ombudsman Service can and should be made mandatory for all developers.
"Propertymark stresses the need for high-quality, sustainable homes that meet infrastructure and community needs... To ensure that all new-build homeowners are protected, we urge the UK Government to implement provisions under the Building Safety Act to make membership of the New Homes Ombudsman mandatory for all developers" 👏

📢 Ombuds Day 2024: Here to Hear You! 📢 🔍 What is an Ombudsman? 🤔 An Ombudsman is an independent service dedicated to investigating and resolving complaints fairly and impartially. These services are free and unbiased, ensuring that decisions are rooted in fairness. Beyond providing redress for individuals, Ombudsmen also identify systemic issues, offering valuable feedback to enhance service delivery and complaint handling. 🏡 Introducing the New Homes Ombudsman Service! This service is designed to assist customers facing unresolved issues with their new homes—issues that developers may be unable or unwilling to address. Our support spans from the initial reservation and legal completion of a property through the first two years post-purchase, covering everything from complaint processes to defects that arise after occupation. Together, we strive for transparency, accountability, and improved experiences in homeownership. Join us in celebrating Ombuds Day 2024! #OmbudsDay2024 #HereToHearYou #DisputeResolution #Fairness #Accountability #AccessToJustice #NHOS #NewHomesOmbudsmanService
