Wishing all of our customers and followers a very Happy New Year! 💥 Someone that ended 2024 on a high was train driver, Gary Arthur, who saw the year out by celebrating an amazing 50 years on the railway. What an achievement! Gary began life on the rails in November 1974 and hasn't left the industry since. He says: "It’s a way of life. Some people get up in the morning and think they don’t want to go to work, but I’ve never felt that. I’ve been coming here for 50 years, and I’ve never gone to work yet, because it’s not work. I love it.” Happy half century Gary 🍾 #railwayheroes #anniversary

We're looking forward to a year-long programme of celebrations next year for #Railway200 - kicking off with 'Whistle Up' on New Year's Day. ✨
To celebrate #Railway200, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway will be part of the celebratory 'Whistle-Up' at midday on 1 January 2025 with heritage railways across the country, when locos and people will blow their whistles to start a year-long celebration of 200 years of the modern railway. The Heritage Railway Association is spearheading the time-honoured initiative, which could go global, and partner organisations and members of the general public are encouraged to take part too by blowing a whistle or simply puckering their lips and emailing their photos and videos to railway200@gbrtt.co.uk Photo courtesy of North Yorkshire Moors Railway and Tim Bruce. #Railway200 #WhistleUp200 #GetInvolved

What a well-deserved award for the newest station on our network! Since its opening almost a year ago, we've had more than half a million customers pass through.
We are delighted our Brent Cross West station took home the New London Award for Transport and Infrastructure at last week’s prestigious awards, supported by the Mayor of London. The NLAs demonstrate the positive impact high-quality design, planning and construction has on people. As we approach a year since opening, it’s clear what a dramatic improvement the new station has made on connectivity to and from the area for existing residents and the role it plays in unlocking future investment. As one of the first councils in England to deliver a rail infrastructure project, we have been pleased to have been recognised in several industry awards this year for excellence in construction, planning, placemaking and engagement. Congratulations to the other winners and shortlisted projects. View the winners of #NLAwards24 here: https://lnkd.in/eEpuvyPS

📢 As of this week, all commuter trains on the Great Northern route between Moorgate and Finsbury Park are controlled by digital signalling technology under the European Train Control System (ETCS). A huge milestone for this cross-industry project! East Coast Digital Programme Siemens Mobility Network Rail
🚄 Commuter trains now all controlled digitally on City of London route Another milestone for ECDP as ETCS is now controlling every single train that commuters catch on the GTR (Govia Thameslink Railway) route from Finsbury Park to Moorgate in the City of London. Ed Akers, Network Rail’s industry partnership director for #ECDP, said: “This is a great achievement on what will become the first commuter railway in the country to operate without any physical signals. I’d like to thank all the signallers, drivers, engineers and planners across our whole partnership who have worked hard to make the Northern City Line project a success".
