Great Western Railway (GWR)
Rail Transportation
Great Western Railway (GWR) provides high speed, commuter, regional and branch line train services.
About us
As one of the largest train companies in Britain, more than 100 million customers a year join us on board. When the Great Western Railway was built, it opened the West and Wales to trade and tourism. And now, along with our partners at Network Rail, we’re proud to have the chance to look after your railway. As well as electrifying our main routes, and upgrading key stations, we have carried out the biggest upgrade of trains in the country. But GWR isn’t just about new signs, uniforms, or even the colour of our trains. It’s about being different. With every smile we give, every bag we carry, and every snack we serve, we want your journey with us to be the best it can be.

This week it was our absolute pleasure to welcome STUDIOCANAL UK and stars from Paddington in Peru on board our special Paddington in Peru Express. To celebrate the eagerly-awaited third film in the Paddington series, we took our VIPs plus special guests to Newbury, the birthplace of Paddington creator, Michael Bond. On board, we shared a very special treat of tea, cakes and of course marmalade sandwiches, provided by our friends at The Newt in Somerset. Paddington in Peru hits cinemas on 8th November and we can't wait to join in the fun as everyone's favourite bear comes back to the big screen.

Today we were joined at London Paddington by STUDIOCANAL UK and stars from the eagerly-awaited third film in the Paddington series, Paddington in Peru, which hits cinemas on 8th November! We were delighted to unveil a special livery on one of our Intercity Express Trains, and to host the real-life Brown family and guests on board for tea and marmalade sandwiches. We’re incredibly proud of our long association with the world’s most recognisable and adorable bear and we hope our customers enjoy travelling on our new Paddington in Peru Express!

Paddington Station is illuminated in orange tonight to #LightTheTracksAhead as we join the global chain of light to mark World Meningitis Day. Together with Meningitis Now and Network Rail we remember all those whose lives have been changed forever by this devastating disease. Thank you to all those who have volunteered, supported, and shared their stories this week
-
Today, we welcomed Meningitis Now and its president, Lisa Snowdon to Paddington, pledging to #LightTheTracks ahead to a future where nobody in the UK dies of meningitis. Supporters travelled on board the 0959 service from Cheltenham Spa to share their stories, while volunteers turned all nine stations along the route orange, collecting funds to support those affected by the disease and help #DefeatMeningitis. Thank you to everyone who supported!
