About us
On 26 July 2015, Gatwick Express and Southern joined Great Northern and Thameslink to operate under one company, Govia Thameslink Railway. Southern is a very successful rail franchise operator, providing train services for commuters, airport users, business and leisure travellers in south London, between central London and the South coast, through East and West Sussex, Surrey and parts of Kent and Hampshire. We are focused on improving the customer experience by supporting and developing our people. With nearly half a million passengers journeys every day, would you like to be part of our aim to ‘deliver a better railway together'. Our network is one of the busiest in the country. We manage 156 stations, 120 of which have Secure Station accreditation. Southern's two principal London stations are London Victoria and London Bridge. We operate a fleet of around 300 new or refurbished trains seven days a week and up to 24 hours a day. Each weekday, we provide 2,284 services while on Saturdays we provide 2,076 and 1,242 on Sundays. Last year, 164 million passenger journeys were made on the 414 miles of track on the Southern network. Every day on average, 446,500 passenger journeys are made. Our commitment to continuous improvement has seen tangible improvements to our stations, our trains and to our passengers’ overall travelling experience. We’re constantly seeking new talent to help us continue this trend. Having achieved the Investors in People (IiP) Champion status, we are also commited to our employees. We are a passionate, customer-centred organisation and, whatever job you do within Southern, your focus will be 'delivering a better railway together '. We want honest, innovative people who are equally passionate about customer service and have the ability to work together safely to deliver results.
