"The accessible programmes we have at GFT are Access Film Club, Movie Memories, Glasgow Film Club and Visible Cinema. The good thing about accessible programmes is that they really support GFT's vision of Cinema for All because we want everyone to feel comfortable here and sometimes people need different things to adapt in the cinema. So it's really great to have the programmes to support different audiences and their different needs. My favourite thing about my role is talking to people about the films that they love and letting them come to GFT to see films that they enjoy and have that collective cinema experience, which you really can't have at home. It's really important that GFT does community engagement because our community, Glaswegians new and old, are at the centre of what we do. I also really like the fact that we have the separate programmes that have different films and different needs met so everyone can feel relaxed and happy that they're going to have a great cinema experience at GFT." - Nicola Scott, Community Engagement Coordinator at GFT Every donation, big or small, makes a difference to our work here at GFT. "I volunteer as an usher GFT. My role at GFT is important to make the cinema a more welcoming environment. I think GFT is a brilliant home for the more niche side of the film industry. I think it's a great platform for more independent filmmakers to actually get their work out there, get their work shown. GFT’s the one place in Glasgow that really supports independent cinema." Keir Jarvie – GFT Volunteer Aw shucks. We are so fortunate to have an army of film fans like Keir on our Volunteer Usher team. You won't find friendlier or more knowledegable ushers anywhere.

Big GFF25 programme news! Our beloved special event screenings return with the classic Australian rom-com Muriel’s Wedding (1994), the millennial favourite Coyote Ugly (2000) and 1990s teen horror The Craft (1996), held in atmospheric venues across the city, including Cottiers and Govan’s Grand Ole Opry. Tickets for these screenings will be on sale Monday 16 December at 12pm. But that’s not all. We’re also excited to announce our GFF25 Country Focus, From the Heart of Europe: Austria on Screen! This tantilising programme brings you an eclectic mix of cinema from hard-hitting drama to absurdist comedy, including returning one of Austria’s most famous and audacious filmmakers, Michael Haneke’s classics back to the big screen. Finally, we are happy to announce that our UK-wide screenings are returning with Scottish filmmaker Laura Carreira’s award-winning social-realist drama On Falling, an honest and raw depiction of loneliness and the instability of the gig economy through the eyes of Portuguese warehouse picker Aurora. Following its Scottish premiere at GFF25 on 28 February, we will present special preview screenings of the film at cinemas across the UK. The full list of venues will be announced in January. "My role at Glasgow Film Theatre for the last 8 years has been as a volunteer and I've also more recently become a supporter of GFT. I think the most important part of [being a volunteer] in some ways is just to chat to people, make people feel welcome, just add a little something that maybe they don’t get in other cinemas. My favourite memory of GFT is actually seeing the film Cinema Paradiso here. I’d never seen it before – it’s a film about cinema and the love of cinema and how people get into that and I saw it in a cinema full of cinema lovers which is absolutely the best way to see it, it was an absolute joy. I think people should support GFT for one reason above all – I don’t think a lot of people realise it’s a not for profit charity so the funding that they get and the money they make from ticket sales and bar sales only covers about half of their costs, so they’re reliant on people contributing to the work that they do, otherwise it wouldn’t happen. Their slogan is Cinema For All and that’s absolutely what they do. They have special screenings from people with dementia, for people on the autistic spectrum, free screenings for children and school children, they do work with young people who are trying to get into the film industry to encourage them and support them into it. They do so much work in the community that I don’t think people are necessarily aware of and I would love to see that continue." - Dorrit Prichard – GFT Volunteer and Supporter Celebrate 50 years of GFT by donating £50. A £50 donation also secures your seat at our special January screening. Your contribution is essential: www.glasgowfilm.org/donate Thank you! 🖤
