The Bupa Foundation is proud to support Action For Refugees in Lewisham (AFRIL)’s ‘Allotment of Refuge’. The allotment not only produces food to subsidise their food bank, but gives refugees a place to take their children, learn about horticulture, and gain all the mental health benefits of being in nature. In 2024, the Bupa Foundation has donated £1.8m to green causes. Find out more at bupafoundation.org. #HealthyPlanetHealthyPeople #HealthyCities

This week, the brilliant Bupa Foundation UK team hosted a reception with New Statesman at #LabourPartyConference to tee up #HealthyCities2025. We heard from Carlos Jaureguizar Ruiz-Jarabo and Anna Russell on the work we're doing to help people live longer, healthier, happier lives in #urban areas. Thank you to our brilliant speakers Councillor Tom Besford from Groundworks, Uma Kumaran MP and Mayor Tracy Brabin. You can find out more about #healthycities here: https://lnkd.in/e4ddCqYV.
We’re delighted to share the Bupa Foundation 2023 Impact Report: https://lnkd.in/gczyBjmY This is a celebration of the amazing work achieved in 2023 together with our wonderful charity partners, our funder, Bupa, and all our colleagues who help make a positive difference to the communities we support. In 2023 we evolved our strategy to concentrate on people and planet health, centred on three areas of focus: Healthy Futures, Healthy Cites and Healthy Communities. We’re pleased to showcase some wonderful new projects and partnerships in the report as well as community projects where we have deep local impact. If you’d like to find out more about what we do, please get in touch at bupafoundation@bupa.com.
We’re delighted to share the 2023 impact report for our Green Community Grants programme, in partnership with Groundwork. Between 2023-24, the Bupa Foundation invested more than £500,000 in Green Community Grants as part of Bupa’s Healthy Cities challenge. The report celebrates some of the hundreds of projects funded by the programme to make places and spaces greener in schools and community groups. We opened for a second round of funding this year, with a further £550,000 available for projects focused on the regeneration of green spaces in cities for community use, such as tree planting, the creation of an outdoor classroom or establishing a community allotment in garden. We’re currently working through the hundreds of applications we received! To date, we’re really proud that the Bupa Foundation has invested over £1M in green grants to hundreds of local schools and community groups.
Thanks to Helen Skelton who visited one of our Green Grants recipients, Fairfield Primary School in Tameside, Greater Manchester. A #HealthyCities grant from the Bupa Foundation meant they could restore their wildlife pond. The deadline to apply for 2024 Green Grant is 30 June https://lnkd.in/ejByM5Hm. Thanks to Groundwork for working with us to make cities healthier and greener for all. https://lnkd.in/ggKz2S2W
#HealthyCities impact stories. Green Community Grants: Alive Activities in Bristol Our 2024 #HealthyCities challenge is live and Bupa employees, suppliers and customers are getting their steps to unlock £550,000 from our Green Community Grant programme. If you know a school, charity or community group that needs funding for an eco-project, applications for up to £2,000 can be made by the end of June at https://lnkd.in/e7TvXGT7. Here's just one lovely example of where the funding from last year's programme went to... Alive Activities in Bristol are using funding from last year's challenge to provide opportunities for people with dementia living in the community to connect with nature and get involved in gardening. By getting participants outdoors, the project aims to improve physical health and wellbeing of the participants, while increasing biodiversity and creating new habitats for wildlife and using sustainable practices and recycled materials to improve the local environment. A community member said: “The space is just amazing - so lovely. It will be fantastic to come here and do some gardening. I’m looking forward to getting out of the house, meeting people and making friends. Thank you so much.”
The Bupa Foundation loved supporting We Invented The Weekend festival in Manchester's Media City last weekend. Lots of people joined us for our Bupa Loop 'mini-marathon' around the quays, where we got our steps in and spread the word about our #HealthyCities challenge. Eight-time Paralympic Gold Medallist, Jody Cundy CBE, also joined us to award medals and inspire the next generation to keep active 👟 Find out more about our Healthy Cities challenge. The more we move, the more we unlock for charity: https://lnkd.in/e_HB4CPc #HealthyPlanetHealthyPeople.
