  • In partnership with The Manchester Metropolitan University, we’ve published a thought-provoking white paper that examines how movement-based interventions can greatly improve health outcomes, including for those living with long-term conditions, as well as providing critical support for the NHS.   Our Healthier Nation Index reveals that one-third (33%) of Britons dedicated no time to physical activity over the past year, with the data highlighting further health inequalities across gender, age, and those living with long-term conditions.   Movement offers powerful mental and physical health benefits. That’s why we must prioritise its role, and fitness professionals more widely, to help deliver care and tackle health inequalities. We need to get the nation moving!   The incoming government is currently consulting on a 10-year plan to build a healthcare system fit for the future. As part of this, we’re calling for bold, coordinated action across government and the health system to make movement a cornerstone of health policy—transforming health outcomes, improving lives, and easing pressure on the NHS. • It was a privilage to host the Independent Healthcare Providers Network (IHPN) recently at our City Fitness & Wellbeing Centre!   It was great to showcase our health assessments, alongside our primary care services, that are delivered through a number of our fitness and wellbeing centres.    A big thank you to the IHPN team for spending the day with us, and an even bigger thank you to our amazing team at City for your warm welcome and seamless delivery.   Check out their video from the visit to see our work in action! 👇 #PrimaryCare #HealthAssessments #Teamwork

As part of IHPN’s Private Primary Care series, we have been visiting a variety of our members to help people learn more about private GP services, why people use them, and what services are most sought after. A few weeks ago, Assistant Director of Policy and Programmes Danielle Henry visited Nuffield Health City Fitness & Wellbeing, at their location in the city. She was shown around the site by Customer Experience Manager Jhon Rivas and Clinic Manager Joanna Szczesnowicz, before meeting a some of the clinicians in the Nuffield Health City Fitness & Wellbeing team, including physiologist Luke Easton, and GP Dr Ashley Pickworth, who walked Danielle through the process for their popular health assessments, including how the blood tests are completed on site, the concierge service provided if the patient needs specialist care, and the active support the patients receives once they get back their full report. Thank you to the team for having us, it was a great visit and a really interesting example of more preventative primary care - taking a holistic view of patients’ health and wellbeing and providing quick access to a range of services

  • 🤝 New partnership to transform community-based care 🤝 We’re proud to announce a new partnership with The Manchester Metropolitan University, a leader in exercise medicine research. Together, we’re launching an innovative programme to transform the way chronic health conditions are managed. Through a pioneering 3-year research initiative, we aim to: ✅ Develop a clinically assured, symptom-led rehabilitation model, with supported exercise at its core. ✅ Scale this innovative programme nationally by the end of 2027. ✅ Establish sustainable training pathways for fitness professionals, providing a standardised approach to delivering community-based rehabilitation. ✅ Develop a model for peer mentoring and community engagement, to encourage long-term behaviour change. With 15 million people in the UK living with long-term conditions, this partnership couldn’t come at a more crucial time, and it aligns with the government’s ambition to shift care into the community. The programme will be piloted in Manchester, focusing on communities that experience higher levels of health inequalities to ensure the programme reaches those who need it the most. Next week, Nuffield Health and Manchester Metropolitan University will also publish a white paper outlining actions policymakers can take at a national level to harness the power of movement in tackling chronic health conditions. We look forward to using the research and insights from this partnership to drive meaningful change and improve the nation’s health. 👉 Read more on this exciting partnership here: https://lnkd.in/ecUdzz4V #buildingahealthiernation #partnerships

  • We’re thrilled to announce the successful completion of the STAMINA trial - the largest clinical trial of its kind for men with prostate cancer receiving androgen deprivation therapy. This groundbreaking study was made possible through a powerful partnership between Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Sheffield Hallam University, University of Leeds and Nuffield Health. We believe in the transformative power of movement. Our role in the STAMINA trial underscores our commitment to supporting innovative, movement-based health solutions, particularly for those affected by complex health challenges, like cancer. Our structured exercise programmes, designed by researchers and delivered by our inspiring Rehabilitation Specialists, enabled participants to access personalised support, with the aim of improving their quality of life and cancer-related fatigue. The results of this groundbreaking trial will be published in 2025. As we celebrate this achievement, we’re proud to be at the forefront of integrating exercise into clinical care, setting new standards for how movement can improve health outcomes and support men across the UK to live healthier, more active lives. • With COP 29 taking place this week, we're reminded of the pressing need to do what we can to slow climate change. We’re committed to reducing our environmental impact and one of the ways we’re doing this is by working with Sodexo to make improvements to our patient dining and reduce waste. We are now: 🍃 Adding more sustainable ingredients, plant-based alternatives and reducing meat to make it easier for our patients to make more environmentally friendly choices, without reducing the options available to them. 🍃 Designing new menus to help patients make sustainable choices, including presenting a variety of options that are less carbon intensive up front. 🍃 Reducing food waste by ensuring we use every part of our ingredients. As well as improving patient experience, the changes will help us in our aim to reduce our carbon impact from patient dining by over 30% in the next two years! Well done to our teams who have worked with our partners to implement these changes that will play a huge part in our ongoing environmental impact and carbon reduction strategy. #climatechange #sustainability #healthcare #buildingahealthiernation

  • This month we were delighted to have successfully completed the first gynaecological procedure using the cutting-edge da Vinci Xi surgical system at  Nuffield Health Parkside Hospital and Cancer Centre London. The system, which uses robotic-assisted technology, enabled our Gynaecology Consultant, Professor Jayanta Chatterjee (pictured third from left), to perform an extrafascial hysterectomy. As well as being able to treat a number of female health conditions, the da Vinci Xi robot is also used for a wide range of complex health issues and offers enhanced precision, improved patient comfort and reduced recovery times to help more patients get the treatment they need. Well done to Professor Chatterjee and the team at our Wimbledon Parkside Hospital!
