Staff from Bailey Partnership’s 10 offices – spanning Manchester to Kent and Cornwall – recently came together for the bi-annual BaileyFest. Held at various locations in and around The Royal William Yard and then moving on to The Box in Plymouth, the event offered over 170 employees the chance to socialise, engage in team-building activities, and celebrate their contributions to the firm in true festive style. The day was packed with activities designed to encourage camaraderie and give employees a break from their usual routines. Attendees had the chance to try their hand at a variety of fun pursuits, including pottery, paddle boarding, life drawing, Segway rides, fishing, archery, golf, and laser clay pigeon shooting. Colleagues who might typically interact only through email or virtual meetings were able to network in a relaxed, fun-filled atmosphere. As the sun set, the festivities moved indoors for a lively evening gathering... Click here to find out more about BaileyFest and the evenings activities: https://lnkd.in/gpERgYNJ

The RIBA Inclusion Pledge addresses the urgent need for greater inclusivity and transparency across the profession. By signing, we have committed to: Setting clear inclusion targets and an actionable EDI plan. Fostering a workplace culture that supports diverse talent pipelines and inclusive ways of working. Following our recent appointment by the London Borough of Camden to their Framework for Environmental, Sustainability, Efficiency & Retrofit Consultancy Services (works over £1m), we’re thrilled to support the council’s mission to create healthy, safe, and resilient communities while addressing inequality and promoting growth. As part of our commitment, our social value lead, Karen Alabaster-Oliver, and Maidstone office social value champion, Nicole Ncube, visited the Young Camden Foundation to donate toys for their Winter Toy Appeal. This charity plays a vital role in supporting children and young people in Camden, where almost 2 in 5 children live in poverty after housing costs (Source: We Make Camden: State of the Borough 2024). Karen shared: "It’s heartwarming to think our donation will bring smiles to children who might otherwise go without gifts this Christmas. Bailey Partnership is proud to support Camden families in such a meaningful way." We’re excited to be working on projects via the framework that support Camden’s carbon reduction goals, benefiting 33,000 council homes, 150 corporate buildings, 1,000 commercial properties, and 69 schools and children’s centres. Members of our Town Planning, Quantity Surveying and Building Surveying Teams recently organised a collaborative event for members of the RICS Matrics UK, Wales & South West and the Royal Town Planning Institute’s Devon, Cornwall and Somerset Young Planners, hosted by Nudge Community Builders. The event provided a fantastic insight and opportunity to visit both the Millennium and C103 building in Plymouth, discussing the history of the buildings along with the journey and challenges in bringing the buildings back into active use. Discussions concerned the involvement and engagement of Nudge Community Builders and local volunteers, their approach to development, and plans for both buildings' future. A special thank you to Nudge Community Builders for hosting this fantastic and insightful event. Faye Stewart MRTPI Jordan George Abbie Ingram Ben Clague Caitlin Talbot

Bailey Partnership brought festive cheer to its offices this December by hosting its annual Christmas Jumper Day and 'Bake Off', all in support of the MS Society, our chosen charity of the year. Staff from across our 10 offices have embraced the festive spirit, wearing colourful Christmas jumpers and showcasing their baking talents. Many colleagues went above and beyond, dedicating their time to creating a variety of mouth-watering cakes, biscuits, and festive treats. Funds raised from the event will go directly to our ‘Charity of the Year’, the MS Society, supporting their invaluable work in improving the lives of those affected by multiple sclerosis and funding vital research into the condition. Mark Plant, director for social value commented: “Wearing my Christmas jumper with pride, I just wanted to say how blown away I am by everyone's amazing effort and generosity! A massive thanks to everyone who baked, dressed up, or donated. You've all shown what the festive spirit is all about." Bailey Partnership’s Kent office has proudly donated £100 of Amazon vouchers to St Peter’s Church of England Primary School in response to their heartfelt appeal for construction-related design and technology (DT) equipment for Year 1 pupils. The appeal, penned by pupils Oscar and Evie, expressed their ambition to raise funds for building sets and materials to help young learners explore design, construction, and creativity. Their letter stated, "We are hoping to raise enough money to buy a range of construction sets and materials for students to explore building, designing, and creating." As a local practice of Architects, Surveyors and engineers, Bailey Partnership couldn’t resist supporting such an inspiring cause. Karen Alabaster-Oliver, the practice’s ‘Social Value Lead’, presented the vouchers to the children and took the opportunity to share insights into the work of Architects, Surveyors and Engineers. Together, they discussed the exciting plans the children had for their new DT resources. Bailey Partnership is delighted to contribute to inspiring the next generation of designers and builders. Bailey Partnership, working closely with Medway Council for the past few years, is delighted to announce the much-anticipated refurbishment of the Brook Theatre has been approved. This transformative £10.8 million contract, agreed upon at a council cabinet meeting on 19th November, will see work commence in the New Year. The Grade II-listed Brook Theatre in Chatham closed in April 2023 for its extensive makeover, which will safeguard its historic character while upgrading the venue into a modern cultural hub. Key improvements include enhanced accessibility for people with mobility issues, expanded space for events, and vital maintenance to ensure its long-term use. The refurbishment will see the introduction of modern lighting, audio and visual infrastructure to provide a future-proof digital experience. The theatre features two performance spaces, multiple rehearsal rooms, workshops, and offices, making it a critical community and cultural resource. Bailey Partnership is thrilled with the announcement that planning permission has been granted for a transformative new home for Chard Town Football Club as part of a wider housing development scheme on the edge of Chard in Somerset. This marks a major milestone for the club and the local community. The new facility will feature a floodlit, full-size pitch, a modern clubhouse, changing rooms meeting FA Grading requirements. Two additional pitches (one with floodlights) are to be provided for community and junior use. Designed by our Senior Associate Architect, Steve Harrison RIBA, whose expertise includes working with Maidstone United Football Club, this project is a game-changer for Chard Town FC, enabling them to overcome challenges posed by their current sloping pitch and aim for promotion back up the football league pyramid.
