It's great to see the success of Arriva TrainCare's internal engineering training scheme covered in the most recent edition of RAIL Magazine. The training scheme was set up to tackle industry-wide shortages in qualified engineers following the Covid-19 pandemic. Open to all Arriva TrainCare employees, participants are offered 1-2-1 in-house tuition whilst receiving full pay – and can then go on to take new roles across the business. Following the graduation of the most recent cohort of 26 newly qualified engineers, Arriva TrainCare's engineering vacancy has fallen from 13% to 3%.

It's fantastic to see the high level of support that Grand Central Rail is receiving among local stakeholders and the regional business community following the applications to extend the operator's track access rights and to deliver additional services and new stops across Yorkshire and the North East. 🚉🎉 Dorridge station has reached the final of the World Cup of Stations competition! Hosted by the Rail Delivery Group, the competition celebrates stations with exceptional community activity and local business support. The Friends of Dorridge have recently supported a refurbishment programme in the station ticket hall, restoring key heritage features including 1930s parquet flooring and benches. The station cafe, Espresso Station, serves as a community hub for commuters and locals alike. ☕ Dorridge triumphed over other West Midlands stations and bested York and Newcastle in the semi-final on 17 October. The competition ends tonight, with the winner announced on Tuesday, 22 October. Industry colleagues and railway partners gathered at London Marylebone this morning for the unveiling of our £12million fleet refurbishment. 🚆 As part of our mission to provide easier, greener and better journeys for customers in the future, our Class 168 fleet is being refurbished with modern features and modifications. Features include improved Wi-Fi, USB sockets, a full repaint and an overhaul of the heating and cooling system. Fleet reliability improvements have also been installed on the train. In addition, a significant investment has ensured a new interior refurbishment, improving the experience for customers travelling with Chiltern. Guests were welcomed at Marylebone by a string quartet and a unique AI experience where they were able to take a futuristic image of themselves with a background of the refurbished train. They then received the opportunity to board the first refurbished train as it departed from Marylebone to Birmingham Snow Hill. A ribbon cutting also took place with Arriva UK Trains Managing Director David Brown, Chiltern Railways Managing Director Richard Allan, Rachel Blake MP (Cities of London and Westminster), and Porterbrook Chief Operating Officer Ben Ackroyd. 🎀✂ The first train to be fully refurbished is now serving customers travelling on our main line routes from London Marylebone between Oxford and Birmingham. The fleet is being refurbished at the Arriva TrainCare facility in Crewe and the remaining trains will be ready for passenger service in the coming months. #refurbishment #train #marylebone #ribboncutting

Our team at Chiltern Railways have begun a fleet refurbishment in partnership with Porterbrook and Arriva TrainCare which will transform passenger comfort levels on-board the Class 168 fleet.  The £12 million refurbishment will see 25 trains, including 76 carriages, being fully modernised with USB sockets, improved WI-FI, new heating/cooling systems, a fresh new interior and an exterior re-paint.  The work will be undertaken by Arriva TrainCare at its Crewe depot.
