  • Daniel Appleton managing director of Appleton Finn shared a interesting comment on the topic of leadership with Thomas Hal Robson-Kanu . What are your thoughts on big decision, and the message it sends to your #workforce?

Big decisions. Bigger message. 💡 Ruben Amorim’s bold call to drop Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho from the squad for the Manchester derby isn’t just about football - it’s about leadership. 🗣️ “I pay attention to everything, the way you eat, the way you put your clothes to go to a game. Everything.” Leaders are not just decision-makers… they’re standard-setters! Sometimes, you have to make the hard call to ensure the right behaviours and values remain at the forefront, even if it means temporarily sidelining talent 🤷 The lesson here? Prioritising a team’s ethos over individual ego can feel like a risk, but it’s often what drives long-term success ✨ Thoughts?

How will Elon Musk influence Trumps' Renewable Energy Policy? ... With Donald Trump gearing up for a historic second term, analysts anticipate strong support for traditional energy. A key component of Trump's campaign success came in his commitment to "revitalizing American energy independence" through fossil fuel production and deregulation. Speaking in September 2023, Trump declared, "We’re going to bring back the American energy economy, bigger and better than ever before" (Reuters, September 10, 2023). Trumps view on Renewable Energy represents: 1. An opposition to Biden administrative policy. Trump claimed that "Biden’s war on energy is a war on the American worker" (Fox News Media, August 15, 2023). 2. Support for Oil and Gas: Trump promises to expand drilling on federal lands and reduce restrictions on pipelines: "Under my leadership, we’ll drill, dig, and dominate," he said at a campaign event (The Hill, October 12, 2023). 3. Skepticism of Renewables: "The wind doesn’t always blow, and the sun doesn’t always shine" (The New York Times, November 5, 2023). Alternatively, Elon Musk the front-man of Tesla, SpaceX, Twitter, and SolarCity stands in stark contrast to Trump’s fossil fuel advocacy. Musk champions sustainability, emphasizing technological solutions to reduce humanity’s carbon footprint. Musk recently posted on X "Solar power will be the vast majority of power generation in the future". He also Musk publicly opposed Trump’s 2017 withdrawal from the Paris Accord, tweeting that "Climate change is real. Leaving Paris is not good for America or the world" (Twitter, June 1, 2017). Their contrasting world views can be placed into economic and ideological differences: 1. Economic: Where Trump prioritizes short term economic gains, Musk advocates for the long-term potential of renewable technologies to drive innovation and create high-tech jobs. 2. Ideological: Under Trump, energy policy is seen as a source of nationalism and industrial pragmatism, whereas Musk appears to be driven by a moral imperative aligned with climate science. Musk, with his vast influence and success in building multi-billion dollar businesses and advancing the frontier of modern technology, has the potential to shift Trump’s views, albeit subtly. Should their relationship deepen, Musk might steer Trump’s energy policies toward greater acknowledgment of renewable energy’s economic potential. However, due to their different ideological visions, I believe that Musk will have to show Trump the short term economic benefits of renewable energy in order to do so. I am interested to hear your thoughts of the above- how will Musk influence Trump's energy policy? #renewableenergy #solarpower #cleantech #sunpower #windpower #alternativeenergy #energypolicy #energy #musk #us #jobs #hiring #Sustainability #ClimateAction #Innovation #EnergyIndependence #FutureOfEnergy

  • Sean Bass interesting take on the new #trump Data Centre Strategy

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗡𝗼𝘄? 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗽, 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗸, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 With Trump back in the White House and Elon Musk’s growing influence, the data center industry is at a turning point. Between 𝗰𝗿𝘆𝗽𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗺𝘀, 𝗔𝗜 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗹𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀, and 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗸𝗲-𝘂𝗽𝘀, the next four years could redefine the sector. 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 & 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 Trump’s promises suggest a shift away from renewable energy incentives. Offshore wind projects are already at risk, while drilling, fracking, and a coal revival could mean cheaper fossil fuels—a short-term win for power-hungry data centers. But what happens to long-term net-zero goals? At the same time, Trump has expressed support for nuclear energy, particularly Small Modular Reactors (SMRs)—a technology gaining traction among data center operators. Could nuclear bridge the energy gap for AI and crypto? 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗺𝗽, 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝗸, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗫 Elon Musk’s influence could shake up the sector. Starlink may gain funding originally intended for rural broadband fiber projects, leapfrogging infrastructure challenges. Is satellite connectivity the next big thing for edge data centers? 𝗖𝗿𝘆𝗽𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 Trump’s pro-crypto stance could revive the struggling sector, driving demand for more dedicated data center capacity. Crypto miners pivoting to AI workloads could also add pressure to an already overstretched grid. 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 & 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 Tariffs, trade tensions, and shifting US-China relations could disrupt semiconductor supplies and raise costs for critical components. Will the CHIPS Act survive Trump’s scrutiny? And what if tensions over Taiwan escalate? 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝗼𝘄? Will Trump and Musk push the industry toward nuclear power and faster connectivity? Or will sustainability take a backseat as fossil fuels make a comeback? How will crypto and AI reshape power demands? ❓ 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆—𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸—𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 ❓ #DataCenters #AI #Crypto #EnergyPolicy #Leadership #Innovation #Infrastructure #TechTrends #Trump #Musk #ElonMusk #DonaldTrump

  • Interesting developments in the world of #renewable energy. Oliver Barnes shed some “ Light”

🌞🔋Recent Developments in Solar: 3 Projects That Have Reached Milestones This Week Verogy completed a 1.1-MWDC rooftop solar installation at Plymouth Industrial REIT’s 68,000-sq-ft warehouse in Portland, Maine. Featuring 2,464 solar panels, the system will generate 1,203,420 kWh annually, powering 111 homes for a year. This project supports Maine’s ‘Maine Won’t Wait’ climate plan, which aims to reduce emissions and boost renewable energy. Plymouth’s Jim Connolly emphasized the dual benefits of cutting emissions and generating revenue through solar leasing, showcasing the company’s commitment to sustainability and clean energy initiatives. Arevon Energy’s $529 million Vikings Solar-plus-Storage Project in Imperial County, California, is now operational. The 157-MWDC solar plant, paired with 150 MW/600 MWh of battery storage, shifts daytime solar energy to peak demand periods. Using U.S.-made Tesla Megapack batteries, First Solar panels, and Nextracker trackers, the project supports California’s renewable goals. Arevon partnered with San Diego Community Power to supply energy to nearly 1 million customers and provided scholarships and local sponsorships, reinforcing its community commitment. Toyo, affiliated with Vietnam Sunergy, is establishing a 2.5-GW solar panel assembly facility in Humble, Texas. The 567,140-square-foot building, acquired from Solar Plus Technology, will begin producing 1 GW of panels by mid-2025, with plans to expand to 6.5 GW by 2029. This marks Toyo’s first U.S. manufacturing site, driven by trade investigations affecting Southeast Asia. CEO Junsei Ryu highlighted the move’s potential to strengthen Toyo’s expertise and meet growing U.S. demand for solar solutions. #RenewableEnergy #SolarPower #Sustainability #EnergyTransition #Solar #renewableenergy #solarenergy #cleanenergy #greenenergy #cleantech #sustainableenergy #communitysolar #renewables #solarfarms #innovation #climate Appleton Finn Verogy Arevon William Herchel Kevin Smith
