Head of Product Taylor Scott joined top media leaders to discuss revenue opportunities and trends they see for 2025: "Audiences are craving connection and community, more than ever. 2024 showed more and more that the advertising-based business models were very vulnerable. Next year, audiences will become even more discerning in which media they consume and will continue to shift towards media that offers the deepest, most authentic connections to their audience." Great snapshot of our industry going into 2025.
Each year just before Christmas Press Gazette likes to ask news leaders one key question to prime us up for the year ahead. This year we asked: "What’s the biggest revenue opportunity for news in 2025 and how do you plan to maximise it?" I'm thrilled that we received 23 thoughtful and revealing answers from execs in the UK, US and Canada and you can read every word of them all here (link in comments). There are some clear themes: unsurprisingly, diversification. Also to be expected is AI, but with some varying viewpoints. Depth over breadth, connecting with consumers directly but also still expanding audiences across platforms. The answers give a great state of play for different types of media businesses right now. Thank you so much to all our contributors: Deborah Arthurs Josh Awtry Ben Bailey Paul Bascobert Jon Birchall Christian Broughton Jacquelyn L. I was frankly surprised that half of our 200 participants said their brand had signed up for a Bluesky account, and another third plan to soon. Our experts Lia Haberman, Sarakshi Rai and Andreas Sandre covered a lot of ground: ⚡ The fact that Bluesky doesn't suppress posts with links like other platforms is a great reason to join ⚡ While Bluesky may not replace X, journalists, policymakers and more are flocking to it ⚡ Starter packs are the secret to build your own feed and also grow your following Share your own questions and comments below and our experts will chime in with their thoughts!

President-elect Trump said Monday that he has a “warm spot” in his heart for TikTok as the popular social media app faces down a potential ban next month. When asked if he would work to stop the ban from going into effect when he takes office, Trump said he will “take a look,” saying he in-part attributes his win to TikTok.

The fatal shooting of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson is amplifying Americans' discontent about healthcare in the U.S. But polling shows Americans' views on healthcare aren't black and white, which is missing from the conversation in the wake of Thompson's death. I discussed earlier this morning on Fox News Sunday. The Hill Fox News TV
