In our final Jersey Evening Post article for 2024, we take a look back at some of the JCF grants that helped build a better Jersey. From strengthening mental-health support for young people to driving environmental sustainability, and from initiatives addressing financial hardship to empowering individuals through education and training, the breadth and diversity of projects supported in 2024 highlight a shared commitment to building a brighter future for Jersey. Since 2020, we’ve distributed over £9 million to more than 300 charitable causes, milestones that reflect our shared commitment to building a brighter future for everyone on the Island. As we prepare for 2025, we remain dedicated to fostering a culture of philanthropy and supporting projects that truly make a difference in our community. About us
The Jersey Community Foundation is a philanthropic charity established in 2020 to connect people who care with causes that matter, inspiring local giving for local needs. We work with donors who want to give something back to their local community and voluntary groups providing vital services for local people and disadvantaged individuals. JCF helps generous individuals, families, organisations, trusts and foundations establish their own charitable fund with the Foundation, to support the causes that mean the most to them in the Channel Island of Jersey. Community Foundations are one of the fastest growing philanthropic movements globally. They are established, trusted charities that support local communities focusing on the most pressing needs in an area and are committed to making a difference to people’s lives in the places they serve.

Meet one of our amazing volunteers, David Roworth! Find out how he helps to make a difference for Islanders through JCF’s grants panel and why giving back means so much to him. 💚 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗝𝗖𝗙? I sit on the Community Grants Panel to review funding applications from local charities and community groups. The panel selects which are the strongest projects to receive funding from JCF. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗝𝗖𝗙? A good friend was instrumental in launching the JCF and it was an opportunity for me to support the organisation in meeting the needs of many vulnerable and disadvantaged islanders. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲? Being able to use my educational background and many years of school-based work, to support families and charities through JCF funding. While the festive season is in full swing, many parents face the challenge of balancing work with childcare. We’re pleased to have awarded £50,000 to Brightly Jersey, a charity supporting children and young people in the care of the Children’s Service. They are using their grant to cover nursery and holiday club fees for children in need, including those whose parents were previously supported by Brightly, and who are too young to qualify for 30 free hours per week. This support helps parents work towards independence by enabling them to secure employment and earn a stable income. Your charity or project could be next to receive a grant. Did you know? Volunteers outnumber paid staff 3:1 within third sector organisations in Jersey. But what does this mean exactly?: 1️⃣ 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: The third sector relies heavily on volunteers, which helps organisations operate on limited budgets 2️⃣ 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: Many individuals in Jersey dedicate their time and skills without financial incentive to address local needs 3️⃣ 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴: A strong volunteer base allows organisations to expand their reach and deliver more services than they could with paid staff alone Find out more about Jersey’s third sector here: https://lnkd.in/e5pYFphp #Jersey CI #CommunityFoundation
