🎄 Did you ever feel visited by ghosts of lost direction, bad decisions, or missing workplace joy this year? You're not alone - and - unlike Dickens' tale, we don't need Christmas Eve to start changing our story! This year I've met amazing and passionate individuals leading nonprofit organizations: Board members drafting visions late at night. Leaders pushing for change against resistance. Team members holding everything together - simply because there's no one else left to do it. It reminded me of A Christmas Carol - not because anyone's acting like Scrooge (quite the opposite!) but because it feels like we too are being visited by three ghosts which are sometimes hard to see: 👻 The Ghost of Lost Direction wanting to show us: • Decision paralysis ruling meetings • Missions that keep drifting • Fuzzy success metrics • Members quietly leaving Because of leadership vacuums and being "too busy for strategy" 👻 The Ghost of Lost Decisions revealing: • Boards lost in operational fog • Growing oversight vacuums • Silent majority at meetings • Missing vital perspectives Because of unclear roles and board development deserts 👻 The Ghost of Lost Workplace Joy warning us about: • The team stress epidemic spreading • Information deserts growing • Purpose fatigue setting in • The revolving talent door spinning Because of leadership capacity gaps and lack of investment in people The good news? Unlike Scrooge, we don't have to wait for Christmas to change our story. All we need is: ✨ The acceptance that these challenges are real and worth tackling ✨ The understanding of what's holding our systems back ✨ The courage to empower change by asking the right questions 🎁 So here's my Christmas gift to our community: 1. The Organization Compass Check - a 15-minute assessment to help you gain clarity 2. A Resource Library - because you shouldn't have to figure this out alone 3. An invitation to share your story - because your experience might be exactly what another leader needs to hear 👉 https://lnkd.in/epaRXzEf Because here's what two decades in this sector have taught me: we're stronger when we face these ghosts together. Ready to be part of a different story for 2025? Remember: You don't need to be in a leadership position to start asking the right questions. Sometimes all it takes is one brave voice saying: "There must be a better way." Because doing good shouldn't mean feeling bad. ✨ A warm thank you to all your amazing ghostbusters out there! Wishing you a beautiful holiday period and the courage to face your organizational ghosts this season! 🎄 And please do share your ghost story below! 🤔 Which of these three do you know best? Your experience might be exactly what another change-maker needs to hear. #NonProfitLeadership #NonprofitCulture #GoodGovernance #2025Goals
