This award is open to female founders of organisations established less than five years ago. There is conclusive evidence that diversity in the boardroom improves a company’s performance. Research has shown that women are less likely to hold leadership positions in the board room, and yet, if a woman is in a board leadership role, there is a greater likelihood of board diversity. Only 5% of public companies have female board chairs, and there is almost no data about women in company board leadership roles. The Lodis Forum aims to change that. I am overwhelmingly humbled and honored to receive this Rising Leader MEA award in the Women of #Worley EUCA & MEA #InternationalWomensDay awards. This moment is not just a recognition of my individual efforts but a testament to the incredible team of leaders, women, and engineers who have risen alongside me, breaking barriers and redefining what is possible. When I began my journey in engineering, the landscape was vastly different. It was a field where women were scarce, and leaders in the industry were primarily men. But the tide is rising, and women are not just participating; we are leading, innovating, and transforming the world of engineering. This award is a beacon of progress, a symbol that women are not only present but thriving and leading in spaces once thought to be beyond our reach. It is a reminder that being a leader is not about the position you hold but about the impact you make. As a woman in engineering, my path was fraught with challenges, yet it was the support of mentors, allies, and fellow women in the field that propelled me forward. Together, we have created a wave of change, a rising tide that lifts all boats. To the aspiring women engineers, let this award serve as proof that your dreams are valid, your ambitions attainable.
