Now you can turn your cans and bottles into hope! When it comes to supporting vulnerable Brisbane residents, every cent counts. That’s why we've installed three smart recycling bins in Queen Street Mall to raise more money for Brisbane’s most vulnerable residents. Not only do they remind residents to do their bit to keep Brisbane beautiful - each bin contains a barcode reader to automatically identify cans and bottles eligible for a 10 cent refund. The proceeds collected by these bins will go to the Lord Mayor's Charitable Trust allowing us to do even more to support Brisbane charities and people in need.

The opportunity to distribute desperately needed funds and toys to Brisbane charities and families in need over the festive season is one of our favourite moments of the year. We know that cost of living pressures and inflation are forcing more people to ask for help – which is why it is so special when local businesses continue to support the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust despite facing the same financial squeeze. In particular, we are very grateful for the practical support and incredible generosity of: 💜Bloomberg Inc, who once again provided thousands of toys to ensure there will be a gift under the tree for so many Brisbane children. 💜 Mosaic Property Group who fund our festive meal grant which helps to bring warmth and togetherness for many people facing food insecurity 💜National Storage & Bunnings Newstead who both provided hundreds of boxes that allowed us to package up these donations and get them to where they're needed. 💜And the Brisbane Racing Club who once again provided a welcoming and comfortable space for our wonderful ambassadors to sort out 4437 toys, as well as the grant presentation event. We mean it from the bottom of our hearts when we say that we could not run this program without the generous support of these businesses and all the incredible people who have donated to the Lord Mayor's Charitable Trust this year. Brisbane is a city that cares! We’ve been blown away by the kindness and compassion of residents who generously donate their $15 rates discount to the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust. Thanks to the generous ratepayers of Brisbane, we distributed funds to 16 local grassroots charities today to support a range of projects and initiatives. Thank you Brisbane!

The Lord Mayor's Charitable Trust aims to spread some festive cheer by providing vulnerable families and children with toys, a bag full of groceries, or a place to go for a Christmas meal. If you are a charity seeking extra support for your clients over Christmas, apply for one or all of our grant categories! Thanks to Mosaic Property Group our Christmas grant round provides support to supplement or expand meal services for those experiencing food insecurity throughout the holidays. Friends with Dignity create a safe haven for people who have escaped domestic violence and are starting their new journey and recovery. By creating a home to be ready in emergency situations, Friends with Dignity help their clients to move on with dignity and in safety.
