Calling All Operators for 2025: Everlab is Expanding! Our small (but mighty) team has achieved incredible results in 2024. But our ambitions for 2025 are 20x bigger, and we’re looking to build a team that can help us get there. We're hiring a select group of exceptional operators to fill key roles across engineering, marketing, and commercial teams. If you're passionate about making an impact and joining a fast-growing company, we’d love to hear from you. We've been feeling the holiday spirit early this year, thanks to the kind words from our valued members about our incredible team of doctors. 🎁 While Australia boasts a wealth of talented clinicians, many are hindered by outdated tools and systems. At Everlab, we're committed to changing that. We're building a workplace that empowers GPs, doctors, and other clinicians to deliver exceptional care. How? Our custom practice software streamlines admin tasks, our team-based approach fosters collaboration, and our dedicated medical research team ensures our team is always at the forefront of healthcare innovation. We’re always looking for more clinicians, so please reach out if you want to join our team.

Hearing our patients’ stories often reminds me how unpredictable and fragile health can be. Last week, we saw a young man in his 20s, doing everything right—exercising, eating well, avoiding alcohol and smoking—yet he had one of the highest heart risks we’ve ever measured. Meanwhile, this week a long-time smoker—a pack a day for 15 years—had a pristine lung scan. Unfortunately, it’s quite a common case. How many of us know someone who seemed perfectly healthy but faced a sudden cancer diagnosis or heart attack? My takeaway? We have to move from generic to personalised care. True health outcomes require understanding each person’s unique genetics, history, lifestyle, and environment—and tailoring a strategy around them. At Everlab, we’re building the technology to make personalised healthcare accessible at scale—and we’re excited to bring it to more and more people in the months ahead.

I’ve been asked twice this week about water fluoridation, sparked by the potential incoming US “health tsar,” RFK Jr., who’s reportedly calling for fluoride to be removed from US drinking water (I haven’t watched). That got me curious, so I did some digging. Here are the key facts and my take—focused on Australia’s water and dental health: Australia has fluoridated community water since the 1950s. It works: Australians born after 1970 have had about half the level of tooth decay compared to their parents. It’s safe: Major reviews by the National Health and Medical Research Council NHMRC (in 2007 and again in 2016) confirm that water fluoridation at Australian levels effectively reduces tooth decay and isn’t linked to significant health risks. Of course, it’s worth ongoing monitoring—the dose makes the poison, after all, as with most things. (Non-fluoridated water still contains fluoride at <0.4ppm, compared to fluoridated water at 0.4–1.5ppm.) TL;DR: - At these levels, fluoride is a win for public health. - My kids and I will keep drinking fluoridated tap water. - There are other inorganic elements to worry about: i.e. we’re picking up a surprisingly high number of Everlab members with asymptomatic mercury toxicity. Let me know your thoughts 👇

The blood test that could add years to your life (that typically isn't tested): ApoB is a protein that transports cholesterol in the body. High levels mean more cholesterol-carrying particles, which can build up in arteries and raise heart disease risk. Measuring ApoB is crucial because it’s a stronger predictor of heart disease risk than standard cholesterol tests in a typical GP lipid panel. Because: 1. ApoB counts the number of plaque-forming particles 2. More accurate for those with Metabolic Syndrome or Diabetes - You can check your ApoB levels and 100+ other biomarkers that measure your risk of chronic disease at Everlab
