2024 Year in Review 👷👷♀️ Looking back on another great year and the incredible people and teams that energise EDL. 💡 ✅ We achieved outstanding production results, often in challenging weather conditions. 🏗️ ✅ We celebrated our two newest renewable natural gas (RNG) facilities, both in Ohio, reaching operational status and expansions at existing operations in Australia and North America. 🤝 We invested in the communities where we operate. and we gave back to the environment. Thank you to everyone who helped us achieve this in 2024. https://lnkd.in/gidJatnH

Renewable Energy milestone at Coober Pedy Hybrid Renewable Power Station! 👏 EDL’s Coober Pedy Hybrid Renewable Power Station has achieved a significant milestone, recently passing 25,000 hours of 100% renewable energy generation for the remote South Australian mining town. ☀️🌬️🔋The power station came online in mid-2017 and integrates a 4 MW wind farm, 1 MW of solar power and a 1 MW/500kWhr battery, which is backed up by 4.15 MW of diesel generation. 🔌Over its operating life the power station has averaged 74% renewable energy penetration, now including more than 25,000 hours of 100% renewable operation, when conditions allowed for the diesel plant to remain off. ⏱️ To date, the longest continuous period the power station has operated on 100% renewable energy was 97 hours in December 2019. EDL General Manager Remote Energy, Geoff Hobley, said, “Coober Pedy is too remote for connection to a transmission network, but it is blessed with plenty of sunshine and prevailing winds, which is ideal for an off-grid hybrid renewable power station to provide the community with a consistent energy supply, with greatly reduced greenhouse gas emissions.” “The power station is something of a pioneer in the supply of hybrid power to remote areas. It demonstrated what is possible, which ultimately encouraged the development of many of Australia’s newest hybrid renewable power stations.’’ “The reliability of the town’s power supply significantly improved following commissioning of the hybrid plant, with a 75% reduction in generation-caused outages. “This clearly demonstrates that, with the right expertise, hybrid renewable projects can be reliable and sustainable.” Current EDL employees who were with us and worked on development of the Coober Pedy project include Shane McLaughlin, Todd Gordon, Greg Erasmus, Trevor Gleeson, Peter Hulkenberg, Tom Ferguson, Alister Price. #RenewableEnergy #HybridRenewable #NetZero #Decarbonisation

Our CEO, James Harman, was in Moranbah yesterday to catch-up with the team who run EDL’s waste coal mine gas power station at Anglo American’s Moranbah North steelmaking coal mine. The visit was the perfect opportunity for the team to show James a new shift pre-start process they have introduced that focuses on safe production, while encouraging more input and alignment from everyone on site. EDL has been a trusted partner with Anglo American for many years, having built, owned and operated the Moranbah North power station since 2008, and Grosvenor power stations 1&2 since 2016. We look forward to maintaining this partnership approach as Anglo American works through the sale of its Australian steel-making business to Peabody Energy. Moranbah North power station has a 64 megawatt (MW) design capacity and uses methane gas captured from the underground mine to generate approximately 387 gigawatt hours (GWh) for the regional electricity network – enough to power about 70,000 homes. In using the mine waste gas to generate electricity, the power station also abates approximately 310,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions each year.
It was great to be in Moranbah, Central Queensland yesterday visiting our very talented team who run EDL's waste coal mine gas power station at Anglo American’s Moranbah North steelmaking coal mine. At EDL, safety is our number one priority, and it was fantastic to learn more about a new shift pre-start process that Operations Supervisors, Darren Semmler and Matthew Bleeze have introduced, focussed on safe production, and encouraging more input and making sure everyone is aligned and comfortable with what they will be doing on each shift. Site Profile: Cullerin Range Wind Farm 🌏 Cullerin, NSW, Australia 🌬️ Commissioned in 2009, EDL's Cullerin Range Wind Farm near the town of Gunning was the first significant wind farm developed in New South Wales. 🔌The operation has a capacity of 30MW from 15x Senvion 2MW rated turbines, each mounted on an 80m high tower, and fitted with 46m long blades. 💡 🏠 Cullerin Range can generate approximately 87 gigawatt hours (GWh) of clean electricity annually, which is enough to power approximately 15,800 homes. The electricity is transmitted to the National Electricity Market (NEM) via the 132kV Goulburn to Yass distribution line. ✅ The clean electricity generated by Cullerin Range avoids emission of about 63,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalents each year, if that same amount of electricity was generated from fossil fuel combustion. 🐑 The wind turbines are positioned across a 3.5km stretch on top of the Cullerin Range to take advantage of consistent winds. Landowners maintain agricultural operations around the towers constructed on their properties. Cullerin Range is one of four operations owned and operated by EDL that features wind power technology - a key feature of the energy transition to a more sustainable future. The others are the Agnew Hybrid Renewable Power Station near Leinster in WA, the Coober Pedy Hybrid Renewable Power Station in SA and the Wonthaggi Wind Farm in VIC. #SustainableEnergy #CleanEnergy #WindPower

Such an important topic for industry to deliver on. Great post Michelle Knight #WomenInSafety #WorkplaceSafety
This week, I had the privilege of participating in the Women in Health & Safety Summit alongside Sarah Cuscadden and Suzanne Westgate. Together, we delved into the crucial topic of "Addressing systemic influences to promote safer working conditions for women." It was an enlightening experience sharing our insights and discussing ways to enhance safety in the workplace for women. #WomenInSafety #WorkplaceSafety

🗽 New EDL Chief Executive Officer North America, Anthony Falbo has wasted no time on his first trip to Australia, visiting operations in New South Wales and our Global Control Centre in Brisbane. 🔎 Anthony joined EDL in early September and has quickly got to work building a deep understanding of how the company’s operations and business units deliver on our vision to be the leading global producer of sustainable distributed energy. 👷 “I’ve worked in (industrial) operations for more than 33 years, and the thing that has really stood out since joining EDL is the professionalism of our people, in every facet of the business,’’ Anthony said. “From the people running our sites, to the engineers and support staff in the offices, these people really know their stuff. It’s a unique company and I love the culture.’’ “I’m really enjoying my time in Australia and seeing how other parts of the company do business and bringing best practice back to what we do at our sites in North America.’’ Left picture: Anthony (right) viewing the performance data from one of his North American sites with Global Control Centre Manager, Lindsay Hasset in Brisbane. Right picture: (L to R) Chief Operating Officer, Jason Dickfos, General Manager Technical Services, Jenny Mackay, Anthony Falbo and National Maintenance Facility Manager, Neil King, who today led a tour of the facility at Appin, south-west of Sydney. #OperationalLeadership #FieldLeadership #RenewableEnergy
