We invested 💰 US$224 million in capital expenditure towards decarbonising our Pilbara operations in FY24. In FY25 we are smashing 💥 this number to hit Real Zero by 2030. #RealZero
About us
We're a proud West Australian company, recognised for our culture, Values, innovation and industry leading development of infrastructure and mining assets. As one of the world’s lowest cost iron ore producers, Fortescue is now shipping at an annual rate of over 180 million tonnes with more than 1.7 billion tonnes of iron ore delivered to our customers since 2008. Through our green energy and technology company FFI, we are rapidly diversifying our business to become an integrated, global green energy and resources company. Key to this transition are our industry leading targets to achieve carbon neutrality for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030 and net zero Scope 3 emissions by 2040. For our size and scale, there is no other mining company in the world that is taking the action we are to eliminate emissions.

Large-scale production of #GreenIron in Western Australia could generate tens of billions of dollars in economic value while supporting in excess of 20,000 jobs along the way. A new report by CME found WA's green iron potential could reduce global emissions by 1.2% by 2050. This is equivalent to eliminating every tonne of CO2 currently produced in Australia.

Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now. You couldn’t find a more fitting theme for International Human Rights Day 2024. We need action Right Now and in our drive toward Real Zero, human rights are central to our strategy. Respecting, promoting and supporting human rights go hand-in-hand in creating a fairer, safer and protected future for generations to come. With this in mind, we are continuing to show our commitment with the release of our 7th annual Modern Slavery Statement.

A big congratulations to Ellie Coates who’s taking on a new role as Fortescue Zero CEO. Our Fortescue Zero global team is playing a critical role in decarbonising our mining operations by 2030, as well as adding huge value to our business by developing and making the green technologies and power systems needed to reach #RealZero.
It’s been a busy first few weeks for our new Fortescue Zero CEO Ellie Coates, meeting with our global teams working around the clock to create the groundbreaking technologies needed to accelerate global decarbonisation. As we push forward with developing and manufacturing green power systems, charging and battery intelligence products, Ellie brings to the team extensive experience in strategy, technology and operations. We’re excited to have her join the Fortescue Zero family.

Who has time to wait around for things to charge? On a mine site every second counts. With the help of a generous A$10 million grant from the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) and a visit from Assistant Minister Josh Wilson MP , we are powering through the development of our 6MW fast chargers that will be able to charge our future 240-tonne Liebherr T 264 battery electric trucks in just 30 minutes! These chargers will be built and tested at our Fortescue Zero facility in Perth before being sent to our Pilbara sites, with the first production charger to be deployed in late 2025. That's Real Zero in action!

Real Zero is possible, and Fortescue is paving the way to do it by 2030. Not only will we stop using fossil fuels on our Pilbara sites, we are also creating the technologies, so the rest of the world can join us. #BNEFSummit #RealZero
