Celebrating the grand opening of Mammoth Underground Mine! We are thrilled to announce the official opening of Mammoth Underground Mine yesterday, marking a new chapter in the history of the Coronado Curragh Complex. From concept to operations, this project is the outcome of two years of planning, approvals, development, collaboration and partnerships to make this a reality. We are proud to showcase this hard work to deliver a world class bord and pillar mine and especially recognise our key partners Eclipse Mining. Mammoth Mine has a rich history dating back to the early 1900s, with previous operations laying the groundwork for the project we are celebrating today. Mammoth Underground boasts substantial reserves of high-quality met coal, with production expected to reach an incremental 1.5–2.0 Mtpa in its first phase. This milestone event was made even more special with Minister for Natural Resources and Mines, Minister for Manufacturing and Minister for Regional and Rural Development, the Hon. Dale Last officially opening the mine, and Member for Gregory, Mr Sean Dillon also sharing insights about the future of the project and its significance to the region. Attendees witnessed the momentous cutting of first coal - a powerful symbol of dedication and teamwork. This is just the beginning. As we look ahead, we’re excited about the role Mammoth will play in driving innovation, creating local jobs, and advancing sustainable mining practices. Here’s to powering progress, together! 🏞️💧 Coronado Global Resources Inc. Greenbrier and Logan divisions engineering staff and reclamation crews set out to reduce iron concentrations in water discharge by use of a passive stone bed water treatment system. This system treats mine water discharge to compliant concentrations without introducing chemicals, which not only reduces treatment costs, but also limits potential environmental impacts due to chemical overtreatment.
