Our CHPP Expansion Project at our South Walker Creek mine has hit another significant milestone! Construction is now complete and it remains on-track for final commissioning. The expanded CHPP will boost capacity at the mine through its sophisticated design solution. Thanks to everyone involved for their hard work so far, including our Stanmore projects team, Michael Alford-Jones and our major partners Sedgman, and Brendan Day and the team at Xenco Services. Ever wondered what it takes to convert a dragline from DC to AC in 74 days? Watch our video of our conversion project to find out! Our South Walker Creek mine is the first in Australia to have a fully converted fleet of draglines - moving from aged DC rotating equipment to new Flanders AC rotating and control. It means the fleet is safer and more efficient. Thanks to everyone involved for their hard work and collaboration in making this happen. 

A highlight on our Stanmore calendar is our annual investor event. This week we hosted a large group of stakeholders, giving them the opportunity to see our operations close up and witness first-hand the significant level of activity from our many development projects. Today we are pleased to announce Stanmore has entered into an agreement with the Queensland Government for funding toward a new gas to electricity power plant at our South Walker Creek Mine. With support through Queensland Treasury’s Low Emissions Investment Partnerships program, the exciting project aims to reduce future fugitive mine emissions through the capture of methane and transform it into electricity, to provide an ongoing long-term self-sufficient source of power for the mine.
