Updates

  • The year in review at Glencore McArthur River Mine. From the success of our people, supporting community initiatives and celebrating culture, to delivering a new fleet to site. It wouldn’t be possible without our employees, contractors and suppliers. Thanks for a successful year and here’s to more in 2025.

  • Glencore recently had the pleasure of celebrating significant service anniversaries of employees marking 5, 10, 15, 20 and even 25 years with Murrin Murrin Operations. The anniversary event was an opportunity to recognise the commitment and contributions of 83 team members who were honoured at a special dinner. What makes it more special is that Murrin Murrin is celebrating 25 years of nickel and cobalt production this year. Thanks to our employees for your incredible years of service 🎉

  • Congratulations Ted for celebrating 40 years with Glencore. Ted is an essential member of the Ulan Surface Operation, having served as an Emergency Response Team member for many years. Ted’s skills as a Trainer and Assessor are invaluable to his crew and we thank him for his years of guidance and assistance to our new starters. Congratulations on this significant milestone.

  • Glencore's Port Operations in Townsville serve as the crucial export hub for our integrated north Queensland copper and zinc supply chain. It also hosts the $85 million Berth 8 shiploader. As the Port of Townsville’s oldest and largest customer, our operations trace back nearly 100 years to the founding of Mount Isa Mines. Berth 8 shiploader, a joint venture between Port of Townsville, Glencore and Incitec Pivot Limited (IPL), has been operational since 2015. It handles mineral concentrates and fertiliser products, including those from third-party producers and fertiliser from IPL’s Phosphate Hill operation.

  • Meet Earl Melamed, the head of Glencore’s global coal assets. He oversees operations in Australia, Colombia, South Africa and Canada – facilities that will produce up to 106 million tonnes of thermal coal and 21 million tonnes of steelmaking coal this year alone. It’s a big job with plenty of challenges – and rewards, too as Earl explains. “Despite the fact we’re spread out and have diverse cultures, languages and geographic locations, we operate with a common purpose,” Earl said. “We all want to make a difference and add value, whether it’s working safely alongside someone in the pit, or environment and community practitioners who ensure we’re operating responsibly, or our finance and procurement people enforcing our very strict compliance protocols. “It’s the feeling that we are working as part of a team. Ultimately, I want our people to feel that what they do matters and it’s personally rewarding.”
