Kopernik recently participated in "Menenun Suara Timur" in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara – an event initiated by ICW in collaboration with Kopernik and various other organizations to commemorate World Anti-Corruption Day. The event marked the launch of a special compilation album featuring three local musicians: Marapu, Leisplang, Hiphop Lembata Foundation, and Navicula, produced by Robi Navicula through our IKLIM initiative and released under Alarm Records. At this event, we also introduced the PANGAN initiative in SoE, West Timor. We showcased various products from micro-agribusinesses involved in the program, engaged with visitors on food security and the climate crisis, and offered T-shirt screen printing. Several PANGAN farmers also attended, networking with other communities across East Nusa Tenggara and sharing their stories and experiences on sustainable farming practices. It was truly a valuable opportunity to learn, discuss, and share inspiration with collaborators and visitors. Thank you to everyone who supported this event! See you at the next opportunity! #Kopernik #FindingWhatWorks #PANGAN #MenenunSuaraTimur

Our Advisory Services team recently visited 10 villages in Indonesia to uncover and analyze their climate adaptation and mitigation initiatives. From locally-driven efforts to those supported by external organizations, we studied how these communities plan, implement, and sustain their projects while addressing challenges and pursuing aspirations. This project aims to provide actionable recommendations for the government to develop an efficient climate finance framework, focusing on identifying initiatives best suited for specific communities or geographic contexts, designing effective funding strategies for climate initiatives, sustaining and replicating impactful projects. This initiative is made possible through the support of the World Bank and collaboration with Akvo. Stay tuned for updates and findings as we work towards scalable and sustainable climate solutions in Indonesia! - #Kopernik #FindingWhatWorks #ClimateAction #SustainableDevelopment #VillageAdaptation #ClimateFinance #Indonesia

As we observe the International Day of Persons with Disabilities today, we reflect on the progress made and the work ahead to ensure full inclusion and economic opportunities for all. The challenges faced by both people with disabilities and organizations inspired Kopernik to find what works to create a more inclusive environment for people with disabilities in Indonesia. In partnership with the Sasakawa Peace Foundation / 公益財団法人 笹川平和財団, Kopernik conducted a rapid assessment of the state of people with disabilities in Palu, Central Sulawesi, which became the foundation for our Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) projects. Through initiatives like our Matchmaking Program, which connects people with disabilities to job opportunities, and the creation of inclusive learning modules for those with hearing disabilities, we are finding effective solutions for a more inclusive workforce. Let’s continue building a world where everyone has the chance to contribute, thrive, and succeed.

Thank you to everyone who joined and participated in last week’s webinar, ‘Sea of Opportunity: Supporting Seaweed Farmers in Papua’. During this event, we shared findings on our unmet needs research, highlighted challenges in developing the seaweed value chain in Papua, and proposed a series of potential opportunities and solutions to address these challenges. The aim of this research is not only to spotlight existing issues but also to serve as a foundation for identifying further challenges, generating more intervention ideas, and encouraging collective action from various stakeholders. Thank you to our panelists, Sarwono (Head of Marine Fisheries Center, Ambon), Kalvin Paiki, S.Si., M.Si. (Lecturer at Universitas Cenderawasih, Papua), Muhammad Zia Ul Haq (Savu Sea Program Manager, Yayasan Konservasi Alam Nusantara), Sarah Mirati (Founder, MOOI Papua), for joining us and sharing their valuable insights. The webinar recording will be available soon. The full report can be accessed via this link: https://lnkd.in/gvY96sxM - #Kopernik #FindingWhatWorks #UnmentNeedsResearch #Webinar #Seaweed #Papua

A big thank you to all the partners who supported the success of IKLIM Fest 2024! Organized by Kopernik through the IKLIM initiative, the event took place on Saturday, November 9, in Ubud as part of the celebration for the release of sonic/panic Vol. 2—a multi-genre compilation highlighting the urgency of real action against the climate crisis. This collaboration not only strengthened the message of climate action but also showed that working together with partners and organizations actively advocating for climate action can create a broader and more meaningful impact. The festival was designed to minimize single-use waste and showcase eco-friendly products and initiatives, reinforcing the importance of sustainable practices and reminding us all to take action for the climate crisis in every aspect of our lives. Without the support of our amazing partners, IKLIM Fest would not have been possible. With their participation, the climate message resonated strongly throughout the event. We look forward to future opportunities to continue and expand these joint efforts for a more sustainable future! #IKLIMFest2024 #SonicPanicVol2 #Kopernik #2024

The elderly population in Indonesia faces a high prevalence of degenerative diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, and osteoporosis. In Kayo Batu village, located in the Jayapura Utara district of Papua, the challenges of distance and limited access to transportation make it difficult for many elderly individuals to reach healthcare facilities like Posyandu Lansia (elderly health posts). These barriers are especially pronounced in remote areas, resulting in many elderly people missing regular health check-ups. To address this issue, we are developing a Mobile Clinic system designed to increase the frequency of routine health check-ups for the elderly. Through this system, healthcare workers visit the homes of elderly individuals, equipped with the necessary tools to provide healthcare services equivalent to those offered at Posyandu, all within the comfort of their homes. In addition to medical check-ups, we have introduced pillboxes to help the elderly better manage and adhere to their medication routines. Currently, we are collecting data for an experiment to evaluate the effectiveness of the Mobile Posyandu Lansia compared to existing Posyandu Lansia services. The focus is on elderly individuals who are unable to walk to the Posyandu. The Mobile Posyandu Lansia will visit them every month for three months, offering more accessible and convenient healthcare services.

We are excited to have Speaker Kampung, a community of citizen journalists based in East Lombok, as the new contributor for the VR for SDGs initiative. They are currently developing VR/360-degree content that highlights issues in their surroundings, such as illegal logging and sand mining that negatively impact the environment, as well as cultural rituals aimed at preserving local heritage. VR for SDGs is a platform developed to voice challenges and solutions for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through 360-degree/Virtual Reality (VR) videos. This platform aims to visualize important issues so that audiences can gain a deeper understanding, raise awareness, and drive action for change. For other communities interested in contributing to the VR for SDGs project, let’s collaborate! #VR4SDGs #Kopernik #2024 #Lombok
