As we observe the International Day of Persons with Disabilities today, we reflect on the progress made and the work ahead to ensure full inclusion and economic opportunities for all. The challenges faced by both people with disabilities and organizations inspired Kopernik to find what works to create a more inclusive environment for people with disabilities in Indonesia. In partnership with the Sasakawa Peace Foundation / 公益財団法人 笹川平和財団, Kopernik conducted a rapid assessment of the state of people with disabilities in Palu, Central Sulawesi, which became the foundation for our Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) projects. Through initiatives like our Matchmaking Program, which connects people with disabilities to job opportunities, and the creation of inclusive learning modules for those with hearing disabilities, we are finding effective solutions for a more inclusive workforce. Let’s continue building a world where everyone has the chance to contribute, thrive, and succeed.

*International Day of Persons with Disabilities* Today, December 3rd, we celebrate the strength, determination, and diversity of people with disabilities. It’s also a perfect opportunity to share an extraordinary project that’s making Gdańsk a more accessible place for everyone! For several years, we’ve been running a project to evaluate how well our city is adapted to meet the needs of people with diverse needs. Our auditors, who experience various challenges, visited places in Gdańsk to assess their accessibility. "We want everyone to feel at home in Gdańsk – no matter their abilities" – this is our mission and goal, which we are achieving step by step.📽 Check out our video to see our auditors in action. Hope and Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities in Zambia Calls for Inclusive and Detailed Result Announcements by the Ministry of Education and Examination Council of Zambia In an effort to promote equality, transparency, and inclusion, Hope and Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities in Zambia is advocating for more detailed reporting by the Ministry of Education and the Examination Council of Zambia when announcing results for Grades 7, 9, and 12. We are calling upon these institutions to specify the performance data for learners with disabilities in a manner that aligns with the standards currently applied to non-disabled students. When announcing examination results, it is vital to recognize and address the unique challenges and successes experienced by learners with disabilities. We are urging that results for learners with disabilities be broken down by gender and performance outcome. For example, it would be beneficial to indicate the number of male students with disabilities who have passed, the number of female students with disabilities who have passed, as well as the numbers for both genders who may not have achieved passing scores. This distinction not only aligns with transparency standards but also highlights the performance and progress of learners with disabilities, offering a clearer picture of educational inclusion. Currently, results are reported in ways that largely reflect only non-disabled students' outcomes. This generalized approach does not provide visibility into the experiences and achievements of learners with disabilities, which is essential for developing targeted interventions, promoting equity, and recognizing the hard work of all students. We are advising the Ministry of Education to adopt this inclusive reporting structure in the upcoming examination result announcements. By doing so, the Ministry will help pave the way toward a more equitable education system where every learner, regardless of their abilities, is recognized and accounted for. In Portugal, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3) is an opportunity to strengthen the importance of inclusion and accessibility. The country has advanced in implementing external policies for the integration of people with disabilities, in line with the guidelines of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, ratified in 2009. The data is marked by awareness-raising events, debates on rights and inclusion, and initiatives promoted by public institutions and civil society organizations. Portugal also highlights the importance of the National Strategy for the Inclusion of People with Disabilities, which seeks to eliminate barriers and guarantee equal opportunities. 👩🦼➡️👩🦽👩🦯 #sandyou #sandyouportugal #rh #internacionaldayofpersonswithdisabilities

🌍 Celebrating International Day of Persons with Disabilities 🌍 Today, we honour the incredible strength, resilience, and contributions of people with disabilities. As a training institute dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities through skills development, we are proud to be part of their journeys toward independence and success. This day resonates deeply with me personally. Growing up with a mom who had one hand and a small hand, I never saw her as disabled. She never classified herself that way, and her strength taught me that disability is not a limitation but a different kind of ability. While we’ve made progress as a society in recognizing and supporting people with disabilities, there’s still a long way to go. It’s heartbreaking that some exploit the system meant to uplift others. At the same time, it’s inspiring to see how our South African culture is slowly but surely integrating people with disabilities into the workplace. Government initiatives and forward-thinking companies are making a difference, and we’re proud to play a role in this change. Let’s continue to create a world where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of ability. Together, we can break barriers and build a more inclusive society. #InternationalDayOfPersonsWithDisabilities #Inclusion #Empowerment #TrainingSolutions #SouthAfrica

🎉 Honored to have presented at the Forum on Making GEDSI Real: Pathways to Lasting Impact! 🎉 On October 18, I had the privilege of sharing insights at the forum organised by the Diplomatic Academy DFAT and the Research for Development Impact Network. My presentation, "Making GEDSI Real: Moving Beyond Inclusion to Disability Leadership in Policy and Practice," focused on how we can move from mere inclusion to genuine empowerment and leadership of people with disabilities. Drawing from my experiences in Indonesia's disability rights movement, I emphasised the need to: - Engage OPDs (Organizations of Persons with Disabilities) in not just implementing but leading policy design and decision-making. - Shift from "power within" to "power with" and "power to", enabling people with disabilities to shape the systems that impact their lives. - Ensure sustainable, disability-inclusive development through long-term investment, capacity building, and inclusive budgeting frameworks. Inclusion alone is not enough—empowering outcomes are key. Access without meaningful involvement still leaves people excluded. Let’s keep pushing for policies that provide tools, confidence, and systemic support so people with disabilities can take active roles in shaping their communities and futures. #DisabilityInclusion #Leadership #GEDSI #Empowerment #InclusiveDevelopment #NoOneLeftBehind #DisabilityRights #DFAT

Reflecting on International Day of People with Disabilities Yesterday marked International Day of People with Disabilities, a day close to our hearts at The Administration Agency. Supporting organisations that provide invaluable care and services to people with disabilities is a core part of what we do, and we’re proud to acknowledge the importance of this day. Our focus is on: 🌟 Celebration – Recognising and valuing the diversity of our global community and cherishing the unique contributions each of us makes, regardless of abilities. 🌟 Learning – Gaining insight and understanding from the lived experiences of people with disabilities, enriching our perspective and empathy. 🌟 Optimism – Looking towards a future where abilities, not disabilities, define individuals and their opportunities. 🌟 Action – Committing to tangible steps that support equal rights and inclusion for all, working collectively towards a more accessible and equitable world. Let’s continue to celebrate, learn, and take meaningful action every day—not just on this important occasion. Together, we can help create a brighter, more inclusive future. #IDPWD #Inclusion #Support #EqualRights #TheAdministrationAgency
