Gastronomy is fundamental to the history of Relais & Châteaux, which celebrates its 70th anniversary this year. It was there at the very beginning, with the fledgling Association uniting not just singular hotels but great restaurants too. Relais & Châteaux chefs across the globe interpret this in their own unique way, celebrating local ingredients and perpetuating the food cultures that surround them. From Japan to The Netherlands, New Zealand and Ecuador, we offer a glimpse into the kitchens of a collection of culinary artists and gastronomic visionaries: https://lnkd.in/er-Cvycy #RelaisChateaux
À propos
A MOVEMENT WITH MEANING Relais & Châteaux, established in 1954, is an association of 580 unique hotels and restaurants throughout the world, operated by independent owners – most often families – who are passionate about their craft and deeply committed to forging warm, lasting relationships with their guests. Relais & Châteaux members protect and promote the wealth and diversity of the world’s culinary and hospitality traditions, to ensure they continue to thrive. They are equally dedicated to preserving local heritage and the environment, as articulated in the association’s Vision presented at UNESCO in November 2014.

This week, our Relais & Châteaux family gathered in Paris for our annual Rendez-Vous — a momentous event that blended tradition with forward-thinking vision and a commitment to shaping a sustainable future. Our time together was enriched by inspiring member speeches such as Daniel Humm from Eleven Madison Park in New York and Boyd Varty, from Londolozi Private Game Reserve, South Africa, who delivered a thought-provoking talk on the African philosophy of “Ubuntu”, celebrating connection and humanity. A CSR panel featured Jaisal Singh, Dereck Joubert, and other inspiring voices, who shared invaluable insights on how modern travelers are reshaping hospitality and shifting expectations around sustainability. Meanwhile, workshops focused on key industry challenges, including strategies to reduce our carbon footprint and the shift toward plant-based menus. These important discussions were enriched by the contributions of members such as Mauro Colagreco Gary Yin, Michael Caines, Vittoria Ferragamo, and Georg Rosentreter, whose perspectives added depth and diversity to the conversation. Amidst the forward-looking discussions, we also paused to reflect on the remarkable journey that brought us here. A particularly moving moment came when our former presidents— 𝗝𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗽𝗵 𝗢𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘂, JAUME TAPIES IBERN, and Philippe GOMBERT—took the stage. Their reflections highlighted the remarkable journey of Relais & Châteaux over the years, with a special standing ovation for the first Relais & Châteaux president Joseph Olivereau, whose leadership brought pivotal change to the association. This year, we also marked 70 years of Relais & Châteaux with two unforgettable evenings that captured the essence of our association’s spirit and its “art de vivre”. At the Château de Versailles, our 800 guests were treated to a gala dinner crafted by the talented three-Michelin-starred chefs Pierre Gagnaire of 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗿𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲 in Paris, Gérald Passedat of 𝗟𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁 𝗡𝗶𝗰𝗲 in Marseille, Anne-Sophie Pic of 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗶𝗰 in Valence, 𝗦𝘁𝗲́𝗽𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗰𝗸 and Hugo Souchet of Les Prés d'Eugénie ***** - Maison Guérard in Eugénie-les-Bains, thoughtfully orchestrated by Nicolas Brossard from 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗮𝘂 in La Rochelle. The following night at the PAVILLON D'ARMENONVILLE, we traveled back to the charm of the Fabulous Fifties, closing this milestone Rendez-Vous. On this special occasion, Cesar Troisgros of La Maison Troisgros in Ouches, 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗿 of La Grenouillère in La Madelaine-sous-Montreuil, and Stéphanie Le Quellec of 𝗟𝗮 𝗦𝗰𝗲̀𝗻𝗲 in Paris crafted an extraordinary dinner. To add to the celebration, Manon Apithy Brunet, Olympic gold medalist in fencing, marked our anniversary by sabering a bottle of champagne. #RendezVousParis2024 #RelaisChateaux

Our properties are deeply rooted in their local communities, serving not just as places of hospitality but as beacons of inclusion. By providing training opportunities and fostering meraningful employment for people with disabilities, we celebrate the unique strengths and talents of each individual. At Awasi - Relais & Châteaux Iguazu, since 2020, the property has been collaborating with the special education school, Instituto Esperanza, incorporating their students into the team. Following their internships, three of the students have started permanent roles at the hotel. #RelaisChateaux #SEEPH2024
