The Calgary Stampede contributes to the quality of life in Calgary and southern Alberta through our world-renowned Stampede, year-round facilities, western events and several youth and agriculture programs. Exemplifying the theme We’re Greatest Together, we are a volunteer-supported, not-for-profit community organization that preserves and celebrates our western heritage, cultures and community spirit. All revenue is reinvested into Calgary Stampede programs and facilities. Our western hospitality and community spirit earned us the Waterstone Award for Canada’s Top 10 Admired Corporate Cultures in the Public Sector category for 2013 and Mediacorp Canada Inc announced the Calgary Stampede as one of Alberta’s Top 65 Employers.

Day & night at Calgary’s newest landmark! 🏙️ 👉 🌆 Adding 565K square feet, the BMO Centre expansion was the engineering project of a lifetime. 👷♀️ 💪 RJC worked hard to level up this destination spot. The jaw-dropping framework is made of 9,000 metric tonnes of steel. Behind the scenes, we collaborated with Seattle’s Magnusson Klemencic Associates to look after BMO Centre’s structural engineering. The result is Western Canada’s largest convention venue. Ready in time for the 2024 Stampede, this new & improved space puts Calgary on a world stage. The BMO Centre expansion project received the Cultural Project Award of Merit from Engineering News-Record (ENR), presented to PCL for the 2024 Global Best Projects Awards. Recognized for innovative construction, aesthetic merit and excellence in safety, the project achieved substantial completion as planned and within budget, involving a workforce of up to 600, totaling over two million construction hours with nearly 5,000 skilled tradespeople. The ENR Global Best Projects Awards celebrate the most innovative and impactful construction projects worldwide, emphasizing resilience and ingenuity in overcoming complex challenges. A panel of industry leaders examined a robust slate of 120 entries to select 35 winning projects from 19 different countries who demonstrated excellence in design and construction quality, innovation and safety performance. Meet Ken and Deb of the historic OH Ranch! Donated to the Calgary Stampede by philanthropist Bill Siebens in 2012, the 8,000 acre working ranch raises beef cattle but also serves as a hub for education and connection through the OH Ranch Education & Branded Beef Programs, year-round corporate events and the annual Alberta Open Farm Days, with support from Ken and Deb. “At least half our job is about human connection,” says Deb. “When people come out here for an event, a lot of times they leave going, ‘I had the best day’.” To learn more about the OH Ranch, visit https://lnkd.in/gZUdjztf

Spirit of Water showing off all it’s angles 💧
💧🤔 Ever seen a 70-foot-tall water droplet?! Weighing in at 112,000 pounds, this public art called for 211 vertical steel tubes. 🤯 RJC worked hard to make the jaw-dropping piece come to life with structural engineering. Choosing a focal point for BMO Centre’s outdoor plaza wasn’t easy. 👨🎨 A local jury of seven selected this vision by artist Gerry Judah. 🏇 🤠 🙌 Named ‘The Spirit of Water,’ it pays homage to Calgary Stampede’s rich history while pushing creative barriers! Earlier today, the Community Projects & Development (CPD) Committee proudly supported Global Calgary’s Morning of Giving. The CPD committee generously donated gifts for children of all ages, and Will Osler, Stampede President & Chair of the Board, joined in to spread some Stampede spirit! These wonderful gifts will be sent to the Magic of Christmas warehouse, where they will be carefully sorted and prepared for delivery. On Christmas Eve, Santa and his reindeer will deliver them to more than 900 families plus nursing homes, hospitals and 500 food hampers across the city, spreading holiday cheer far and wide. Together, we’re making the season brighter and more special for our community!
