Jacob Reichberg what a challenge. Thank you Dr Jaehon Kim MD FAAOS FACS for always being right on target!
Complex Care Coordinator - Division of Complex Orthopedic & Spine Surgery at Refuah Helpline Referrals
What a remarkable case... A 18-year-old male sustained a severe dorsal hand laceration involving tendons and metacarpals after an accident with a saw. He was initially taken to a local ER, but due to the July 4th holiday, no hand specialists were available. Understanding the critical nature of the injury, Hatzoloh EMS of Rockland County immediately contacted REFUAH HELPLINE REFERRALS INC for urgent assistance. We promptly reached out to Dr. Jaehon Kim MD FAAOS FACS - Mount Sinai West - Mount Sinai Orthopedics, who quickly recognized the complexity of the injury and took the case without delay. Despite it being a holiday, Dr. Jaehon Kim made himself available. Now, just a months later, the patient is making a remarkable recovery, regaining full function of his hand and on the path to returning to his daily activities. This outcome is a testament to the importance of timely, expert intervention. Thank you, Dr. Jaehon Kim MD FAAOS FACS for your outstanding care and dedication to your patients! Shoutout to Usher Glanzer for arranging the transfer. ⚠ This case also underscores the importance of proper safety precautions when using power tools, especially during the Yom Tov Sukkos season. Accidents can occur in an instant, and taking preventive measures can help avoid severe injuries. Let’s remain vigilant and prioritize safety. Warning! Congratulations to Dr. Michael Hausman on receiving the 2024 A. Lee Osterman Excellence in Education Award by the American Society for Surgery of the Hand! This award is presented annually to the selected surgeon who has dedicated their career to the advancement of hand surgery education. We are proud to share his honor as an outstanding educator in the field of hand surgery. Dr. Hausman’s past fellows have sent in many kind words of support as they were “fortunate to have had the Hausman Experience” and “it’s about time as Dr. Hausman brings a new meaning to G.O.A.T [Greatest of All Time]”.

I'm very excited to share our new paper iScience showing intervertebral disc regenerative healing is possible - but only at very young ages. We show large numbers of stem/progenitors are not sufficient for regeneration - high crosslink density is needed to retain the organized annulus lamellar structure during healing.
