In today’s fast-paced world, many working women are recognizing the importance of prioritizing their own children, health, and well-being. This shift often leads to taking intentional breaks in their careers, allowing them to foster deeper connections with their families and focus on self-care. By stepping back, they not only nurture their personal lives but also cultivate a sense of balance that can enhance their overall happiness and productivity. This approach encourages a healthier work-life dynamic, where women can return to their careers with renewed energy and perspective, ultimately benefiting both their families and their professional endeavors.

As we continue to celebrate women during this month I think it's important to highlight some of the challenges they have in the workplace all year round. Today, I wanted to dive into a topic that’s been on my mind lately: #emotionallabor. As professionals, we often talk about technical skills like coding, marketing strategies, or financial analysis, but what about the human-centered skills that require just as much, if not more, effort? Emotional labor refers to the invisible work of managing emotions, both ours and others’, in professional and personal settings. It’s about staying composed during tough meetings, offering support to colleagues, and maintaining a positive attitude even when faced with challenges. In my experience, emotional labor is crucial for building strong teams and fostering a positive work environment. It’s not always easy, and it can be draining, but it’s a skill worth honing. Often, the burden for this is on women in the workplace as the article from BBC News discusses. Here are a few tips I want to share so all of us can be more human-centered at work: ⭐️Self-awareness: Understand your own emotions and how they impact your work. Take time for self-care to recharge and stay resilient. ⭐️Empathy: Put yourself in others’ shoes to understand their perspectives and respond empathetically. ⭐️Communication: Be clear and transparent in your communication, especially when dealing with sensitive topics. ⭐️Boundaries: Know when to set boundaries to protect your emotional well-being. It’s okay to say no or ask for support when needed. Let’s continue to recognize and appreciate the emotional labor that goes into creating successful teams and workplaces. Share your thoughts and experiences below—I’d love to hear from you! #emotionalabor #humancentric #professionaldevelopment #growth #work #womenatwork #development

International Women's Day, it's crucial to remember that true impact lies not just in today but in our daily actions and interactions. At the heart of fostering an inclusive workplace is recognising the significance of everyday choices: • Empowering our team to manage personal responsibilities, like attending a child’s school event, without the need for formal permissions. • Cultivating an environment where conversations about perimenopause and its effects are approached with openness and understanding. • Acknowledging caring responsibilities as a real and essential part of life that must be balanced with professional duties. • Engaging in honest discussions about workload and workplace accountability to ensure fairness and support. The foundation for supporting women in the workplace is built on genuine flexibility and trust. These elements create a culture where individuals feel valued and understood, enabling them to bring their whole selves to work while effectively managing personal commitments. As leaders and business owners, we face daily decisions that either advance this cause or detract from it. At Wisdom, we're committed to making choices that contribute positively, aiming to be a part of the solution rather than the problem. To the extraordinary and inspiring team of women I work with, thank you for your openness, honesty and grit! #IWD #Equality #Leadership

What is a truly inclusive workplace for women be like ? 1. Where women are represented equally across all the teams and positions. 2. Where women are encouraged to perform best and their ideas being respected & valued. 3. Where women feel safe and immediate actions are taken in cases of harassments. 4. Where women represent equally in senior leadership and CXO positions. 5. Where women can safely work irrespective of the time and location of their work. 6. A woman passes through various phases in her life. So workshops and events regarding women's health & well being are necessary. 7. Where men become more empathetic and supportive to their female coworkers.

Timed for International Women’s Day, “Turn the Temp to 23” shines a spotlight on how office temperatures have traditionally left women in the cold by being set to a 1960s standard—when far fewer women were in the office—of a 150-lb, 40-year-old man. The result is that 76% of women report their office as too cold, and frequently wrap themselves in blankets or wear multiple layers for comfort. Studies have shown that cooler working temperatures can decrease women’s productivity and cognitive performance, factors that can ultimately impede their career progression. https://lnkd.in/gH_isC34 #iwd2024
