Today, we celebrate and honour the incredible contributions of volunteers. If you have volunteers in your workplace, remember—your duty of care for work health and safety applies to them too. Ensuring their safety is just as important as protecting your employees. Learn more about how to keep volunteers safe at work: https://lnkd.in/gxtz8iXy #volunteersday

In assessing your first-aid needs, you should consider: * the nature of the work you do * workplace hazards and risks (including specific hazards requiring special arrangements) * the nature and size of your workforce * the work patterns of your staff * holiday and other absences of those who will be first-aiders and appointed persons * your organisation's history of accidents or incidents You may also need to consider: * the needs of travelling, remote and lone workers * the distribution of your workforce * the remoteness of any of your sites from emergency medical services * whether your employees work on shared or multi-occupancy sites * first-aid provision for non-employees (eg members of the public).

As Harriet said below. please see the survey linked
The State of Caring survey 2024 is out now! Thanks to your input in previous surveys, we have been able to successfully campaign for new legislation allowing carers to take unpaid carers leave and to set down a good evidence base for the implementation of the Carer’s Leave Act 2023. In addition, the results from last year were discussed on national TV shows, as well as local BBC radio, and in many national and local newspapers, raising the profile of unpaid caring across the UK. Carers’ voices and experiences were at the heart of all of this coverage. Make your voice heard: https://lnkd.in/eu-CGNc5 The survey takes around 20-30 minutes to complete – we really appreciate every carer who takes the time to share their experiences.

As most of us look forward to Christmas, it’s important to remember the people who will still be working on the highway over the festive period. Road workers are doing their jobs, often in difficult situations and adverse weather, ensuring everyone can travel safely and get home to their loved ones. But let’s also remember, they're not just workers; they’re someone's family too, hoping to get home safe, just like you. Nobody deserves to go to work be sworn at, spat at, or threatened with violence. Sadly, instances of abuse towards road workers are on the rise. That’s why we’re supporting the ‘Stamp it Out’ campaign aimed at eradicating abuse of public-facing workers, including those that work on the highway. According to the campaign, 60% of all roadworkers get abused on a daily basis – this is not acceptable. This festive season, let's get everyone home safe. Next time you drive by roadworks, or come to a set of temporary traffic lights, we ask that you have a little patience and maybe give the team a friendly wave or just a smile. A little act of kindness can go a long way in making sure everyone, including our road workers, gets home safe for Christmas. If you’d like more information on the ‘Stamp It Out’ campaign, please visit: https://ow.ly/1q0a50UpZvV Thank you for helping create a safer, more respectful environment for everyone - After all, the true spirit of Christmas is about peace, love, and kindness 🕊 #BeKindThisChristmas #StopRoadWorkerAbuse #StampItOut

Starting tomorrow, all NSW public servants must return to the office full-time. The Minns government aims to rejuvenate Sydney's CBD and support local businesses hit hard by the pandemic. Business leaders are cheering, anticipating a much-needed boost in foot traffic and economic activity. However, this move sparks mixed feelings among employees who have thrived with WFH flexibility. Unions are on alert, ensuring the transition addresses employee needs, particularly for those with caregiving responsibilities. Is this the right move to bring life back to our cities? How will it impact workplace culture and employee well-being? Share your thoughts below! ⬇️
#EXCLUSIVE: The NSW government has sent a whole-of-government directive for all public servants to return to the office immediately. READ MORE: https://bit.ly/3WAN4CS Reporting by Madeleine Bower #wfh #work #worklife #outofoffice #publicservants #nsw

It really is that simple.
The best accommodation you can give disabled employees is to believe them. Then act accordingly.
