I love what Feeding America is doing. We can all look to them for inspiration as an innovative social impact brand. They’re the largest charity working to end hunger in the United States. 🤲 They distribute food across its vast network of over 200 food banks and 60,000 pantries and meal programs. Millions of individuals in need benefit from the work they do. - They have great volunteer programs which encourage people to give how they can. - They provided over 6 BILLION meals through 2020, a time of great need. - They’re an accessible charity with a great online presence. - They’re forward thinking, advocating for policies that create long-term solutions to hunger. They’re not only addressing the issue directly and taking action to feed the hungry - they’re working to eradicate the problem. "The voices of people facing hunger must be at the table when designing solutions for hunger." 👏 Truly a fantastic organization. What’s a nonprofit whose mission you really believe in? ⬇️ P.S. This is a great video example of one way your organization can produce more video content on social without breaking the bank. #Nonprofit #SocialImpact #NGO

🌟10 Ways to Give Back to Your Community 🌟 Feeling inspired to make a difference? Here are 10 actionable ideas to give back to your community, no matter your age or stage in life. Let's create a ripple effect of positive change! 1. Volunteer at a Local Shelter🏠: Dedicate a few hours to helping out at a homeless or animal shelter. Your time and kindness can make a big impact. 2. Donate Blood: A single blood donation can save up to three lives. Find a local blood drive and roll up your sleeves. 3. Support Local Businesses 🛍️: Shop local, dine at small restaurants, and use services from local providers. This boosts the local economy and helps your neighbors. 4. Organize a Community Cleanup🧹: Gather friends and family to clean up a park, beach, or neighborhood. It’s a great way to beautify your surroundings and bond with others. 5. Mentor Someone 📚: Share your skills and experiences by mentoring a young professional or student. Your guidance can shape someone’s future. 6. Donate to Food Banks 🍎: Collect non-perishable food items and donate them to your local food bank. Many families rely on these resources, especially during tough times. 7. Offer Free Workshops 🛠️: If you have expertise in a particular area, host a free workshop for community members. Whether it’s financial planning, resume writing, or fitness, your knowledge is valuable. 8. Visit a Nursing Home👵: Spend time with elderly residents at a nursing home. A simple conversation or a shared activity can bring joy and alleviate loneliness. 9. Plant Trees🌳: Join or start a tree-planting initiative. Trees improve air quality, provide shade, and enhance the beauty of your community. 10. Donate Clothing and Household Items 👗: Go through your closets and storage areas to find gently used items that can benefit others. Local charities and shelters often need these donations. No matter how small the act, giving back is incredibly rewarding. Let’s come together to strengthen our communities and inspire others to do the same. Share your plans and inspire others! 🌟 #TeamOCMentors #CommunityService #Volunteer #GiveBack #LocalImpact #MakeADifference

I was listening to an NPR Life Kit tonight about Giving Tuesday - they were trying to help people figure out how to make charitable gifts. 1) Think about things you care about. 2) Write down a list of organizations that are working to make that happen, and 3) Make a budget. (And make a donation!) It's not bad advice. It's a little dry and passionless for my taste - but in some ways, I hope you do this today/Tuesday. I hope you think about what you want your community to look like for *everyone* and think about your budget and give what you can give. Today/Tuesday is a great day to do it because a lot of non-profits are hoping you will, but really any day is a good day to give. I've worked at WayForward Resources for 23 years come January. It's a good organization that is very responsibly operated and managed, with the best of the people you've ever known working and volunteering and teaming together to create that better world. Follow along with our GivingTuesday Block Party all day long. If nothing else, please share a post or two. Give a few (or more) dollars if you can. Make the world better for someone today. As one of the equally busiest food pantries in our community, and one of the only organizations in Dane County providing housing case management, eviction prevention funds, and a doubled-up housing program, your donation during this will increase our impact, helping us provide food, housing, and hope to our community. #buildtogether
