Did you know that 40% of all food in the U.S. is wasted? Meanwhile, millions of people face food insecurity every day. Hunger at Home is tackling this challenge by repurposing unused, good food to serve those in need. Since 2015, they’ve provided an incredible 15 million meals to the community. Here’s another eye-opener: just 25% of the billions of pounds of food wasted could solve food insecurity within our communities. Today, our San Jose Robert Half team had the honor of volunteering with Hunger at Home. Together, we packed nearly 500 meals! These meals will be shared immediately with the community at the PayPal Park distribution center in partnership with multiple nonprofits. Organizations like Sysco make this work possible by donating good, unused food to ensure it gets to those who need it most. While this is just one step in a larger fight against hunger, the experience was both humbling and inspiring. There’s still so much more work to be done. If you’re looking to donate, or volunteer, I highly recommend checking out this amazing organization. Every small act can make a big difference! #GivingBack #HungerRelief #CommunityImpact #VolunteerWork

I love what Feeding America is doing. We can all look to them for inspiration as an innovative social impact brand. They’re the largest charity working to end hunger in the United States. 🤲 They distribute food across its vast network of over 200 food banks and 60,000 pantries and meal programs. Millions of individuals in need benefit from the work they do. - They have great volunteer programs which encourage people to give how they can. - They provided over 6 BILLION meals through 2020, a time of great need. - They’re an accessible charity with a great online presence. - They’re forward thinking, advocating for policies that create long-term solutions to hunger. They’re not only addressing the issue directly and taking action to feed the hungry - they’re working to eradicate the problem. "The voices of people facing hunger must be at the table when designing solutions for hunger." 👏 Truly a fantastic organization. What’s a nonprofit whose mission you really believe in? ⬇️ P.S. This is a great video example of one way your organization can produce more video content on social without breaking the bank. #Nonprofit #SocialImpact #NGO

We know it's mid-May but, are you feeling the holiday spirit? We hope so because...⬇️ Many small nonprofits receive most of their support during the holiday season. One such example is Care for Real, a 54-year-old food pantry on the Northside of Chicago, where Better Magazine contributor Jen Kouba works. While December and January are certainly the most joyous times to be a fund-raiser, she says, "food insecurity doesn't have a season." The needs of the individuals and communities who benefit from non-profits like Care for Real persist all year long. What are some ways you can continue your response to systemic problem like hunger throughout the year? ✨ Volunteer a few times a year at a food pantry like Care for Real. ✨ Host a collection drive in the spring or summer ✨ Become a monthly donor to sustain local food programs. Check out Jen's full article here https://lnkd.in/e-A9GWVi to learn more about Care for Real and further expand your advocacy throughout the whole year. After all, 'tis the season (to #makeitbetter)!
