It feels like groundhog day when I read the news about new developments. Every day there is a story about how urgently we need more housing and that is typically followed by another article about a community that is opposed to a new development. The story is always the same. The proposed Project is too big and doesn't conform. I admit that I would not appreciate a 70' tall building in my backyard but unless communities make land available for multi-family projects, then 40b will remain the only solution. With the current cost of housing, we can't only build single family homes. Communities have to start finding solutions or continue to face 40b project and now also the new MBTA communities law. https://lnkd.in/e8MZxpAT

"Linnhaven Mobile Home Center in Brunswick, Maine, has become the first community in the state to successfully utilize a new law allowing residents to buy the land their homes sit on. This marks a significant win for affordable housing advocates, as manufactured homes often come with the risk of rent increases or eviction when investors purchase the land beneath them. The Linnhaven residents seized this opportunity, securing $26.3 million in loans and grants, and voting unanimously to move forward. This transforms Linnhaven into the largest resident-owned community in Maine, offering a model of empowerment and stability for similar communities across the country." - The New York Times Feel free to Read and Subscribe to my daily newsletter for the latest updates on MHC's. 👇 https://lnkd.in/e5c38isB #mobilehomepark #manufacturedhousing #technlogy #news #manufacturedhousingcommunities #realestate #investment #homebuyer #mobilehomeinvesting #buildcommunity #helpcommunity #investor #realestateinvestors #sustainability #affordability #housingmarketupdates #communityliving #housing #TheRealEstateSolutionist #homebuilder

Cities in California are losing jurisdictions for their housing plans revoked. As California addresses the housing crisis, they are encouraging most cities to rezone areas to allow for more density building to address the state housing crisis. What does this mean? More opportunities for developers to buy land and rezone/build multiple houses on lots, townhomes, condos, apartments, etc. PM to discuss opportunities for development where you live in what is becoming a wave of opportunity for investors in real estate https://lnkd.in/gTRbUWBB

In this week's Housing Explainer by Taproot Publishing Inc., Damian Collins and Katie MacDonald discuss the growing need for high-quality rentals in Edmonton - and what is at stake when renter's rights are not protected. Alberta has some of the worst tenant protections in the country, exacerbating housing precarity and rising rent costs. Beyond a need for more supply of good quality rental housing, Collins and MacDonald emphasize the importance of tenure protections for renters. Read below: https://lnkd.in/gm6B-FYN

From Alex Horowitz of Pew Housing Policy Initiative on the housing supply shortage: “So restrictive zoning is the primary culprit. It's made it hard to build homes in the areas where there are jobs. And so that has created an immense housing shortage. And each home is getting bid up, whether it's a rental or whether it's a home to buy.” This holds true across Pennsylania. Let’s fix it through zoning reform and re-legalize missing middle housing types. #housingsupply #pahousingchoices https://lnkd.in/gUC954Mi

DMV’s housing gap: Key players say there’s more to resolving the region’s residential crisis than policymaking https://ift.tt/CUR4ehJ Despite Maryland’s recent efforts to boost affordable housing and the residential construction projects dotting the region, there is a critically short supply of homes in the DMV — a problem experts say will take widespread collaboration to solve. The Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments projected that the region needs to add at least 320,000 housing units between 2020 and 2030, 75,000 more than expected. Yet, many areas are falling short of that target. Rent control, often seen as a policy intended to assist, can have unintended consequences. It is regulation that works to reduce housing supply rather than increasing it, ultimately impacting the very individuals it aims to support. In addressing housing challenges, the focus should be on strategies that promote the expansion of housing availability, ensuring a sustainable solution for all. https://lnkd.in/em-_qu7t #Housing #HousingSupply National Association of Home Builders
