At Kaizen, we proudly redistributed 3% of the 93 million pounds of food provided by Food Bank of the Rockies—that’s 3 million pounds of fresh, nutritious food, or the equivalent of 75 fully loaded semi-trucks, this year alone! This incredible impact wouldn’t be possible without the support of Food Bank of the Rockies, our amazing local farmers and growers, and our dedicated volunteers who make it all happen. Together, we’re creating a more equitable and sustainable food system. Help us continue this vital work by making a donation at kaizenfoodrescue.org. Thank you for being part of the journey! #FoodJustice #CommunityEmpowerment #KaizenFoodRescue

Farmers markets have always been about connection—between farmers and consumers, neighbors and friends, food and sustainability. Here’s how farmers markets make a difference: 1️⃣ Reduce Food Waste: Farmers markets provide produce that doesn't meet grocery store cosmetic standards but is still edible, reducing food waste. 2️⃣ Support Local Farmers: Shopping at farmers markets aids local farmers and small businesses, promoting stable food production in the community. 3️⃣ Feed Those Facing Hunger: Many farmers markets donate unsold produce to local food banks and shelters, assisting those in need. Next time you visit your local farmers market, remember—your purchase has a ripple effect that goes far beyond your own table. Special thanks to Farmers Market Coalition for helping raise awareness this week! 📸: At the @DaleCityFarmersMarket, our weekly food rescue initiative helps transport fresh produce to the @NorthernVirginiaFoodRescue. For example, over 4,000 lbs were recently delivered with the help of our friends at The Paxton Companies!

Making meal recovery the norm in NJ is the founding mission of the MRC, and so we were thrilled to see an excellent report conducted by Move For Hunger and funded by the The Tepper Foundation that highlights the importance of food waste reduction in our state. We wholeheartedly agree that recovered and donated food has great unrealized potential as a pathway to solve the growing need for fresh food in our communities. Our team has also witnessed a strong interest in food recovery, as well as the lack of data, knowledge, and ownership that keeps this work under-utilized and inefficient. There is transformative potential in building a collaborative, clear system for getting food that would be wasted into the hands of those in need. Not only fresh food from farms, but also the thousands of prepared, healthy meals from food service programs that are disposed of every day. In alignment with this report's recommendations, our goals are to raise awareness, foster collaboration, and to build a scalable model for meal recovery that can be replicated not just across our state, but across the nation. We are excited to share more updates as we continue to build partnerships and tools in 2025, providing the support needed for any nonprofit, corporation, or individual who wants to be involved in meal recovery to play their part! #Sustainability #NewJersey #FightFoodInsecurity #FightFoodWaste #MealRecoveryCoalition #MealRecoveryRevolution #FoodRescue #foodwaste #foodwasteprevention #CommunityImpact #EnvironmentalImpact
Move For Hunger’s new report identifies the following ways to increase access to fresh food and reduce food waste: ➡️ Increase communication, data collection, and transparency to build trust among local organizations and leverage existing assets. ➡️ Build infrastructure by establishing a not-for-profit food hub for receiving, cleaning, repackaging, processing, cold storage, and shared transportation. ➡️ Maximize food donation and recovery through targeted education campaigns for companies and producers with excess food. What does "dignified" really mean when it comes to food access? At Food Stash Foundation, we believe dignity goes beyond simply providing food—it’s about creating an experience that prioritizes respect, choice, and inclusivity. Here’s how we bring this vision to life: 🍎 Prioritizing Choice: We listen to our Rescued Food Box members' dietary restrictions and preferences. ⏰ Respecting Time: Our Market members receive time slots so they don’t have to wait in long lines. 💳 Breaking Barriers: No ID or proof of need is required to access our programs—just come as you are. 🚚 Supporting Partners: Community partners build relationships with our drivers to select food that fits their specific programs. World Food Day World Food Day is observed on October 16th, commemorating the founding of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. It underscores the importance of spreading awareness about those who lack access to proper nourishment. While underserved communities endure starvation, the rest of the world often takes food for granted. Nutrition is a necessity for all human beings; no one deserves to be deprived of it. Food is provision, food is security, food is life. Through collaboration, we must construct a world where safe, healthy food sources are accessible to all. A good initiative would be to plan meals effectively, ensuring that no food is wasted. Donating meals can also help make a difference. So, what are you waiting for? Spread the word on World Food Day! #WorldFoodDay2024 #FoodforAll #ZeroHunger #WorldFoodDayCelebration #FoodSecurity #FAO #MakeADifference #FoodAccessForAll #HungerRelief

🌍 Today is World Food Day! At Fyffes, we’re proud to raise awareness of crucial issues like hunger, food security, and sustainable agriculture. Our mission goes beyond delivering fresh, healthy tropical produce—we’re committed to supporting the communities we work in, providing decent work, and creating growth opportunities for our employees and suppliers. By incorporating more fruits and vegetables into daily meals, we not only promote healthier lifestyles but also help reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This supports our Healthy Food for Healthy Lives sustainability pillar, where we’re focused on delivering nutritious produce and encouraging healthy eating habits globally. So far, we’ve donated 21 million meals to vulnerable communities through food banks and charities like FoodCloud and FareShare UK, among others. Together with our partners, we’re reducing food loss and ensuring that surplus produce reaches those who need it most. Let’s keep working toward a world where everyone has access to healthy, nutritious food. 🌱 #WorldFoodDay #Sustainability #HealthyFood #FoodSecurity

Refused freight at delivery?! 🍅 🍪 🥦 🥩 This happens more often than we'd like, especially when delivering food into a grocery warehouse. Most of the time, it is refused for a reason that doesn't jeopardize the quality of the food, i.e. overage (shipping too much product), 1 single case damaged causing the entire pallet to be rejected, etc. Most times, if the rejected quantity is a pallet or less, customers just ask us to have the product donated. Not all driver's want to be left figuring out what to do with 360 cases of salsa. Finding a place to donate, takes time & effort! Besides hosting the ultimate Fiesta Friday, reach out to 412 Food Rescue to see if they have the ability to take in the product! With their 18+ nationwide partnerships, chances are, they can quickly find a home for the refused food! With a fleet of their own trucks and cargo vans, they can arrange to meet drivers on the road or even make arrangements with the grocery warehouse to hold it for them to make the pickup. Brokers & carriers, keep this information handy to provide to the driver or reach out to 412 Food Rescue directly @ 412-277-3831. Let's all work together to fight food waste and divert fresh food from going to waste by redirecting it to people experiencing food insecurity. Don't be part of the problem, be part of the solution! #RefusedFreight #FoodDonations #Nationwide #412FoodRescue #KnichelLogistics #LTL #Truckload #Intermodal #GroceryWarehouses https://lnkd.in/ex5p2vGy

In celebration of World Food Day, we took a moment to ask our community members what their favorite dish is from our soup kitchen—and their responses warmed our hearts. Each meal we serve not only provides nourishment but also brings people together, fostering a sense of belonging and care. World Food Day is a global call to action, reminding us of the urgent need to end hunger and ensure food security for all. At the Millennial Mindset Foundation, we are deeply committed to making a sustainable impact, one meal at a time. By providing nutritious food to those in need, we aim to fight food insecurity and uplift our community. Every dish prepared in our soup kitchen reflects our mission to address hunger at the grassroots level, turning simple meals into powerful tools for change. On this day, let’s remember that access to food is a fundamental human right. We encourage everyone to take part in creating a more equitable and hunger-free world. Together, we can create sustainable growth, promote a mindset of empathy, and foster community-driven solutions for long-term impact. #MillennialMindsetFoundation #WorldFoodDay #EndHunger #FoodSecurity #Nonprofit #CommunityWork #GrowthMindset #SustainableImpact #HungerRelief #FoodForAll
