Team-building is always at the heart of what we do, but this time, it was our turn! The social committee hosted a virtual paint-and-sip event to celebrate the holidays. Each of us painted a piece of a larger mural, symbolizing the essence of our mission. The spoon and fork represent the meals transported by our network, the canned food symbolizes the impact of our food drives—and at the center? Love and support. We can’t wait to see all these pieces come together when we meet in person in 2025. #MoveForHunger #SeasonOfGiving #TeamBuilding

Move For Hunger mobilizes transportation networks to deliver surplus food to communities in need.
About us
Move For Hunger is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that mobilizes transportation networks to deliver surplus food to communities in need. As you may be aware, many people throw out a good deal of “stuff” when they move. Unfortunately, a lot of this “stuff” is food that could be delivered to a family in need rather than thrown away. That’s where we come in! Move For Hunger teams up with professional moving companies, corporate housing providers, relocation management companies, and multifamily apartment communities across the U.S. & Canada to rescue unopened, non-perishable food items from people moving and deliver it to local food banks. In addition to collecting food from people who are moving to new homes, Move For Hunger helps companies and individuals across the United States and Canada organize thousands of successful food drives and employee engagement events each year. Since its founding in 2009, Move For Hunger has delivered more than 32 million pounds of food - that's 26.5 million meals - to food banks and pantries nationwide.

The location of your food drive can make all the difference. This week in Hunger Headlines and Highlights, we’re exploring how choosing the right spot can maximize impact. Grocery stores, gyms, and coffee shops are ideal places to gather donations where people naturally come together. During Season of Giving, consider hosting a food drive at office holiday parties, parades, or school concerts. These moments bring us together, offering a perfect opportunity to fight hunger and strengthen community bonds.

We're thrilled to announce that Hannah Lane, CNP, is the 2024 Outstanding Emerging Fundraising Professional by the AFP Charlotte chapter. Her dedication to philanthropy, impactful work on the Development team, and encouragement for our Race Team are just a few of the remarkable things she does. Thank you, Hannah, for your outstanding contributions and for making such a positive impact in our community. We're proud to have you on the Move For Hunger team!
Last month, the philanthropic community of Charlotte, North Carolina gathered to celebrate National Philanthropy Day with the AFP Charlotte chapter. On that day, I and several other truly incredible people were honored with a variety of awards for the work we're each doing to serve our respective communities. I am so proud to finally (publicly) share, and shout from the virtual rooftops that I was named the 2024 Outstanding Emerging Fundraising Professional here in Charlotte. ✨ A huge thank you to Kristy R. and my teammates at Move For Hunger for believing in me, supporting me, and of course, nominating me for this award. I am so grateful (and truthfully still in shock) to have been selected. Growing up, like most kids, I changed my my career goals approximately once a month. But one common theme was always there - I wanted to help people. This eventually led me down the path I'm on today, working in the non-profit sector raising funds in hopes of helping solve some of world's greatest problems. I'm grateful to do the work that I do, to have whatever small or large impact I might have on those around me, and I'm so excited for whatever comes next in this journey called life. #philanthropyforall #nationalphilanthropyday #MoveForHunger #fundraisingprofessional
