🔍 In nonprofit work, issues often stem from a scarcity mindset, causing fear and limitation in decision-making. 🌱 Adopting an abundance mindset can transform this, opening up possibilities for innovation and positive outcomes. 🤝 Shifting focus from competing for resources to collaborating on shared goals can amplify our collective impact. We see others not as competitors, but as allies. Think long-term: sustainable decisions that benefit the wider community lead to lasting relevance and impact. 🌍 Commit to inclusivity and fairness in all decisions, empowering everyone, especially those historically marginalized. 🌈 📈 Move from fiscal fear to fiscal responsibility—use resources to expand reach, not restrict possibilities. 🗝️Change begins within. Regular self-assessment and alignment with our mission are keys to effective governance. No quick fixes—lasting change takes time, strategic thinking, and commitment to continuous improvement. 🛠️ Want to learn more? One of the ways to build a culture of giving back amongst professionals in corporate organizations is through structured employee-giving programs. I would say that they are not just beneficial, but essential for fostering a sense of responsibility to contribute towards the communities we live and work in. In fact, structured employee-giving programs are beyond monetary contributions. They are about creating a community where empathy and generosity are not just encouraged but celebrated. At Deloitte by nurturing a culture of giving, we not only make a tangible difference in our communities but also inspire others to do the same. The impact of these initiatives extends far beyond our walls. Through curated campaigns and collaborative efforts with non-profits, we've seen the transformative power of our collective action. Individual contributions, while important, are just one piece of the puzzle. It's the collective impact of our professionals coming together that truly drives change. By collaborating with non-profits, carefully selecting projects, identifying beneficiary’s needs, pooling resources, and leveraging diverse skills, we can address complex community challenges in a more targeted and impactful way. This makes our initiatives more focused, and sustainable and maximizes benefits for those we aim to support. From vitalizing an entire village settlement that had no direct access to water in their homes, with systems powered by solar energy, to providing essential resources to our urban underserved communities, the impact of our collective contributions knows no bounds. As leaders, it's our responsibility to not only champion these initiatives but to actively participate in them. Together, we can make an impact that truly matters through collective action. #EmployeeGivingPrograms #Purpose #OurPurposeImpacts

What has long been an open secret in the nonprofit sector is now being brought to light by recent studies. #CorporateSocialResponsibility (CSR) is no longer considered an option, but an inherent obligation. The difference today is that citizens, especially Gen Z, are far more skeptical. Shallow, short-term CSR efforts that are limited to communication campaigns, will have little to no impact on customer or employee #loyalty. What’s now being asked for is "Authenticity” and this is achieved by: 👉 Long-term commitment to a cause and a clear strategy for making an impact. 👉 Companies putting some skin in the game, committing their own investments and not simply using their platform to encourage others to act. Companies must demonstrate true commitment. More insights in the study "The Authenticity Imperative" by Changing Our World. https://lnkd.in/dgxQHtpH

📢 Nonprofit legitimacy: when the grounds for it shift, and why it matters 📢 What if our badge of legitimacy no longer holds? *Legitimacy* is that intangible quality that every nonprofit must grapple with to gain trust and authority in a world where societal values are constantly evolving. After all, society decides whether organizations are desirable, proper, and appropriate, based on a set of assumptions or perceptions that can change. Gone are the days when aligning with a few key foundations for legitimacy (with financial propriety and low overhead featured centrally) was enough to wear the badge of legitimacy. During a recent ‘First Fridays with a Thought Leader’ session at Corentus, Inc., the team coaching company where I am a Core Practitioner, I presented on shifts in NGOs’ foundations for legitimacy. There’s a video recap of my short presentation available here (also below; see min. 2 through 35): https://lnkd.in/eayFNYKm If you want a 2-page overview of these shifts in org legitimacy, you can get it here: https://lnkd.in/etT5NQWB Why focus so much on legitimacy? Our sector’s effectiveness hinges on it. If society doesn’t see the value in our work, our impact is severely diminished, like a tree falling unheard in a forest. Next up for leadership level questions: what does this shift mean for what we pay attention to, what we put resources towards, how we shape our culture, what our staff composition needs to look like, etc. Read more in my latest blog post here: https://lnkd.in/eVZv4mZq (including some exciting news about a second edition of our book 'Between Power and Irrelevance: the Future of Transnational NGOs!) How are you seeing these shifts in legitimacy playing out in your work environment? hashtag #legitimacy #trust #authority

How can we develop more impactful corporate-charity partnerships where both sides are working together to deliver real impact for people? This report from NPC, “Building Impactful Corporate Partnerships” looks at how we can move away from a transactional relationship, where there is often a power imbalance, to one that is much more based on impact. The report covers the 5 key areas below: 1. Establish an equal relationship Everything else flows from this. An open, honest relationship that balances power and embraces difference can enable partnerships to: 2. Think beyond corporate social responsibility (CSR) 3. Design effective volunteering 4. Involve more partners 5. Measure their impact https://lnkd.in/ezdWsmUH Alexandra Ruddy & Kiley Henley this may be of interest for IoD Jersey Jersey Community Foundation Jersey Chamber of Commerce
