On this #VeteranDay2024, I’m reminded of the incredible strength and resilience that our brothers and sisters in arms embody. Every veteran carries a unique story, filled with challenges, triumphs, and lessons learned. These experiences shape not only their lives but also the communities they return to. As we honor their sacrifices today, I can’t help but reflect: How can we better support our veterans in their transition to civilian life? Many veterans face hurdles that can feel insurmountable—whether it's finding meaningful employment, adjusting to a new routine, or simply feeling understood in a world that often feels disconnected from their experiences. It’s crucial for us, as a society, to create spaces where veterans can share their stories and find the resources they need to thrive. Let’s open the floor: What initiatives or programs have you seen that effectively support veterans? How can we, as professionals, contribute to a more inclusive environment for those who have served? Your insights could spark ideas that lead to meaningful change. If this resonates with you, please like this post or share your thoughts in the comments. And if you find this message valuable, consider reposting it to spread awareness and support for our veterans. Together, we can make a difference. #Veterans #Support #Community

Military to Civilian: Thriving Through "Thrive in Transition with The Ideal Life” Leaving the military is a "Thrive in Transition" – identity, career, location. But you don't have to go it alone. Here's why an accountability partner, ideally another veteran, matters: Shared Experience: They get your challenges and offer veteran-to-veteran advice. Stay Focused & Motivated: Set goals together, celebrate wins, and find support during setbacks. Remember: Match & Communication: Find someone you connect with and who communicates openly. Two-Way Street: A strong partnership benefits both of you. The transition is yours to navigate, but an accountability partner makes it smoother. A whole community is here to support you! https://lnkd.in/eEUH_tUU
On this July 4th holiday, The Ideal Life Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of Thrive: Veterans in Transition. To learn more, visit https://lnkd.in/eEUH_tUU.

A #socialsaturday tip for my transitioning service members. Your connections shouldn't all be veterans. I get it. There's a comfort in connecting with people who've chewed on the same dirt as you. But don't let it be a limitation. Here's what "civilian" civilians have taught me: - We service members or veterans don't "own" patriotism, leadership, teamwork, or the flag of our nation. - Civilians weren't institutionalized in the system that created us. They filter the world through different lenses leading them to innovative ideas we might not come to if the only people we engage with are fellow veterans. - This is going to sound crazy but as good as you are at whatever it is you want to do, many of them are as good or better. Keep an open mind and learn a thing or two. - They are part of your future. If you live the average American lifespan, you will spend more time as a civilian than you did as a service member. It would be incredibly sad for you to live a life of distrust with the vast majority of Americans. - Last one and this is going to sound counterproductive. They're not going to understand or care about your rank or position. Many will feel great appreciation for your service. But your relationships with them won't be built solely on who you were. They'll be built on who you are and who you become. So be someone worthy of building relationships with. My challenge to you this weekend? Send 10 connection requests to civilians who have no tie to the military. Search for 2nd connections who share your interests or industry and reach out. Start building relationships organically before you need them professionally. I'm making an exception for me this weekend so if you're sending a connection request to a fellow veteran, I'm #opentoconnect. 🙋♂️ If you don't have LinkedIn Premium, don't worry about sending me a note. I know you only get five connection requests a month. Just hit "connect." If you do have LI Premium, I'd love a note from you. Let's be of value to each other. #veteranshelpingveterans #militarytransition #relationshipsmatter #jvknows

Veterans Can… will be formally launched on the 20th Jun this year and there will be 3 key themes to the work the CIC does; Connection. Veterans have a unique past and many chose to serve on, so Veterans Can… enables this connectivity and creates the means of bringing together those who’ve served one nation and now live or work in another. Additionally we will host an exciting and engaging way for Veterans around the world to support and connect with one and other - all while doing good. Community. There will be an independent and autonomous Veterans Can… community app to assist in fostering the sense of camaraderie around the world. In addition, the Veterans Can… community will select a relevant and positive project to provide funding for - and properly get behind. Celebration. Not all Veterans flounder, suffer or struggle - in fact most don’t. While acknowledging some have a tough time, the support available is better than ever and it’s only right to celebrate success to inspire others. More Veterans are made by their time in the military than are broken by it, so Veterans Can… will recognise this - and shout about it.

Far be it from me to not follow a trend...I got sucked in then my cynical self took over. Anywho... I tried it. The year in review thingy. The Vibe: Steward, Advocate, Guide. Assessment: Meh, I try to help others when I am able. I will always advocate for our community. Most of us do. So not all that remarkable at all. Superpower: Bridging military experience with workplace transformation. Assessment: Meh. My military experience only moderately impacts what I do now. As for transformation...where I'm at doesn't NEED transformation. I just hope NOT to break it. Top Quote: "The transition to defense...for supporting veterans." Assessment: Accurate. Glad to be where I am because of what we do and who I support. Stats (do they REALLY matter? Dunno...) ***What I AM truly grateful for in 2024 is that I posted daily 2/3 of the time while able to grow and build friendships and relationships through it.*** To me, THAT is what matters. Veteran community...man, y'all weird AF at times. I wouldn't have it any other way.
