On this #VeteranDay2024, I’m reminded of the incredible strength and resilience that our brothers and sisters in arms embody. Every veteran carries a unique story, filled with challenges, triumphs, and lessons learned. These experiences shape not only their lives but also the communities they return to. As we honor their sacrifices today, I can’t help but reflect: How can we better support our veterans in their transition to civilian life? Many veterans face hurdles that can feel insurmountable—whether it's finding meaningful employment, adjusting to a new routine, or simply feeling understood in a world that often feels disconnected from their experiences. It’s crucial for us, as a society, to create spaces where veterans can share their stories and find the resources they need to thrive. Let’s open the floor: What initiatives or programs have you seen that effectively support veterans? How can we, as professionals, contribute to a more inclusive environment for those who have served? All of us at Crossroads Momentum want to say thank you to those who are serving, those who have served, and the Gold Star Families who have experienced loss from their loved one's ultimate sacrifice.  Many people look for ways to continue honoring our veterans past this solemn day of remembrance. Mental health resources and workforce opportunities are two suggestions that can extend this day and support our troops. When you encounter an active-duty soldier or a retired veteran with a hat or piece of clothing signifying their service, offer thanks for their service or your freedom. Continue to pass this on by teaching your children to say thank you to them. Several organizations provide post-military transition, job training, and employment opportunities for our veterans. Connecting with veterans in the workplace is unique, and these organizations have the resources to recruit, engage, and integrate veterans with their specific skills to an organization's needs. Some of those organizations are #eaglecorps.com, #recruitmilitary.com, #clearancejobs.com

What’s the One Thing You Wish You Knew? Leaving the military can be both exciting and overwhelming. For many veterans, transitioning to civilian life brings challenges we didn’t anticipate. If you could go back and give your “just-out-of-uniform” self one piece of advice, what would it be? Maybe it’s understanding the value of networking, the importance of mental health, or how to translate your skills into the civilian workforce. Transitioning from the military to civilian world can be one of the most difficult things you'll ever do. You are possibly changing career fields, moving, and relocating nationwide. You AND your family. You're planning for your future while still serving your current unit. It's a major adjustment. I know, because I've been there.
