How do you know it works? I asked Pinuccia Contino this week
Pinuccia is Deputy to the Director for Consumers and Head of Unit for "Product Safety and Rapid Alert System" at the European Commission.
I got very curious about her work because of how she speaks about product safety, which is fundamentally about people, and the fact she is an ambassador for applied compassion.
We discussed how she trained herself and built capacity in her team. How she built a culture of psychological safety. What that in turn means in terms of
-innovation capacity
-courage
-creativity
-efficience
-effective collaboration
-resilience
How you measure that?
-Via the classic HR indicators: sick leave, staff retention
-via productivity & innovation capacity
-by asking staff members what the value is for them, what it does in practice for them
This interview of Pinuccia Contino for the European Network for Women in Leadership (WIL Europe) provides further insights on why consumer policy exists in the first place, what is wonderful about international collaboration and much more: https://lnkd.in/e6Pbhh-g

🎉 Tomorrow is Cinco de Mayo! Here's how to celebrate respectfully.
🇲🇽 Let's dive into the rich history behind Cinco de Mayo!
This day commemorates the Mexican victory over the French 🇫🇷 at the Battle of Puebla in 1862, a symbol of resilience and unity.
Did you know that it's not Mexico's Independence Day❓ That's celebrated on September 16th.💡
However, as we celebrate, it's essential to acknowledge the commercialization of Cinco de Mayo. While it's become synonymous with margaritas 🍹 and parties, let's not forget its significance. This day holds deep cultural and historical importance for Mexicans and Mexican-Americans alike.
To honour the spirit of Cinco de Mayo respectfully, let's avoid perpetuating stereotypes. Mexican culture is diverse and vibrant, extending far beyond sombreros and mustaches. Let's appreciate the richness of Mexican heritage without reducing it to caricatures.
🚫 What you shouldn't do:
➡️ Wear stereotypical costumes or props
➡️ Use cultural appropriation for decorations or social media posts
➡️ Assume all Mexicans celebrate Cinco de Mayo in the same way
So, as we celebrate, let's raise awareness of the true meaning behind Cinco de Mayo, honour its historical significance, and embrace diversity with respect and understanding. 🎊

The insights I got from the Young Leaders Advocacy Seminar organized by the United Europe e.V. at the BDA | Confederation of German Employers' Associations in Berlin was very informative.
Take aways:
1. Steffen Kampeter gave a keynote speech about the challenges facing the German labour market ( Quality vs Quantity problem) and possible remedies to fill the 5 Million workforce gap anticipated by 2030.
2. Henrik Schönstedt talked about the challenges facing the steel industry especially regarding workforce recruitment. Henrik highlighted the high demand for Zerspanungsmechaniker. Check out GMH Gruppe
3. Edith Otiende-Lawani shared thought-provoking insights on the importance of identifying the “missing piece” across various perspectives—be it the company, government, or job seeker. She emphasized that understanding these unique gaps is essential for creating synergy between workforce demands, policy-making, and career pathways.
4.Sophia Roepke highlighted key challenges preventing full participation of women in the workforce and underscored the critical need for flexibility in labor policy design. Her emphasis on creating gender-responsive policies resonates with the importance of adapting workplace standards to support diverse needs and foster inclusivity.
5. Fabian Lukas Goslar brought forward an essential perspective on the critical role of intergenerational dialogue. In an evolving world, fostering meaningful exchanges across generations is key to bridging knowledge gaps, promoting mutual understanding, and driving sustainable progress.
Thanks to Dyria Sigrid Alloussi for the organization and moderation.
During the red carpet interviews at the Pantene 50th Awards Ceremony, Tankut Turnaoğlu, Chairman of the Board of P&G Turkey, Central Asia, and the Middle East, stated, “Ensuring this broadcast is accessible, meaning that visually impaired and hearing impaired individuals can follow what’s happening in the broadcast.”
The terms "visually impaired" and "hearing impaired" used in this statement not only fail to align with socially sensitive language but have also been officially replaced by the term "disabled" under the Turkish Disability Act enacted in 2005. Continued use of such terminology may undermine individuals' dignity and hinder their equal participation in society.
As representatives of an international company like P&G in Turkey, it is our right to expect greater attention to societal sensitivities and legal regulations. The language used on such platforms is particularly important for raising awareness and promoting inclusivity.
As an influencer, I propose taking a step towards adopting accurate terminology to foster a more respectful and inclusive society.

As we celebrate the festival of colours, let's also reflect on these shared values that unite us as a team.
🌈 Spreading Joy: Holi is a time to spread happiness and positivity through colours. Similarly, we strive to create a work environment where every individual feels valued, supported, and encouraged to bring their authentic selves to the table.
🎨 Embracing Diversity: Just as Holi brings people of all backgrounds together to celebrate, we value diversity and inclusivity in all aspects of our culture. Let's cherish the kaleidoscope of perspectives and experiences that make us stronger as a team.
💡 Innovation and Creativity: Just as Holi encourages playful creativity with colours, our company culture fosters innovation and out-of-the-box thinking. Let's continue to embrace new ideas and approaches to drive success and growth.
🤝 Building Relationships: Holi is a wonderful opportunity to strengthen bonds with friends, family, and colleagues. Likewise, we believe in the power of strong relationships and teamwork to achieve our goals together.
Wishing everyone a vibrant and joyous Holi!

Today, during a conversation with my colleagues about advancing my career, some thought-provoking questions arose:
Am I considering changing industries? Does the events industry still excite me?
My answer was an immediate and resounding yes!
About four years ago, I embarked on the project I'm most proud of: Brilla Mujer (Shine Woman). This incredible journey involved over 700 attendees, more than 30 brands, international speakers, all united by the theme of Self Love. It was an unforgettable experience!
From this event, I learned several key principles that have shaped my professional life:
✨ Teamwork – Build a trustworthy team. Delegating and sharing responsibilities lead to more fulfilling victories.
✨ Create Exciting Events – Understand your audience and strive to make a meaningful impact.
✨ Attention to Detail – Details transform events into unforgettable experiences.
✨ Clear Vision – Articulate your goals clearly; you can't reach a destination you can't describe.
✨ Work on projects you believe in – the world needs people that are passionate about what they do.
✨ Multisensory Experiences – Engage all senses to create a profound impact. "We don’t think beauty; we sense it, feel it, and know it."
✨ Curiosity and Serendipity – Plan meticulously, but remain open to new and better ideas.
✨ Take Risks – Creativity thrives on taking risks.
Trust Your Instincts – From decision-making to design, let your instincts guide you.
✨ Positive Impact – Strive to bring something good to the world.
I've been fortunate to collaborate with incredible teams, and I'm excited to continue creating and connecting with those who share my passion for experience design.
Wishing everyone a wonderful midweek!
Special thanks to Alan Moore for the gentle reminder with his inspiring book, “Do/Design: Why Beauty is Key to Everything.”
