The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals present an excellent framework to foster international collaboration in higher education and research - and Times Higher Education's unique data provides the perfect matchmaking tool. The THE Impact Rankings assess universities' contribution to each one of the 17 UN SDGs, amassing many thousands of data points across 2,000+ universities in over 120 countries - on their teaching, research, outreach and the stewardship of resources. The data provides a unique and unprecedented opportunity to highlight previously hidden best practice across all of the SDGs and to open doors to collaboration and mobility. To be ranked in the overall impact rankings, universities must submit to #SDG17 - partnerships for the goals - to show a clear commitment collaboration. The table blow provides a look at the participation and performance for each European country in #SDG16 - peace, justice and strong institutions. I'm presenting this data, and much more, at The University of Edinburgh event today on UK-Spain collaboration, co-organised by the British Council - Agencia Nacional SEPIE Erasmus Estudiar en España. #UKSpainHE It is great to have a ranking focused on collaboration as much as competition. "Embarking on a journey towards sustainable and equitable future demands a united commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The SDGs are 17 ambitious objectives for a greener, healthier, more peaceful, and equal planet. A path for a world in which prosperity is shared, societies are inclusive, and the environment is kept safe. To understand this vision, it is imperative to instil a profound understanding of the SDGs in the hearts and minds of the next generation, which can be best achieved by school educators." I am happy to announce my participation in the teach4SDGs. A programme that will equip me with the necessary information and skills about the SDGs and hence impact my community positively. Day 2 of the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AAC&U) Conference on Global Learning on Friday has me reflecting on these important topics: the differences between international and global, aligning DEIB with global, connecting local and global, and assessing global learning. I'm also thinking about ways to use global learning to give students more hands-on experience to solve real-world problems so they can acquire in-demand skills employees prefer. I appreciated hearing the UN Sustainable Development Goals mentioned several times in sessions throughout the day. I also enjoyed lunch with Jon Rubin, the founding father of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), and about 20 other COILers. My key takeaway from Day 2 is that I must connect local lived experiences to global contexts and vice versa to make certain issues more relevant to students. The SDGs are one way to do this to help prepare students for the world. #aacuglobal #sdgs #globalgoals #globallearning

Thank you apdacademy Dr. Rajdeep Deb and AISECT Rabindranath Tagore University (formerly known as AISECT University) for inviting and organizing the International Symposium on Education for Sustainable Development. Lets address together the key challenges in education for sustainability in sync with the #NationalEducationPolicy #NEP2020 while working on the top 5 guiding pillars. #Access #Affordability #Accountability #Equity #Quality And collaborating with the industry for skill development, conducting periodic vocational training programs & knowledge transfer to create future ready pedagogy from the primary & secondary level of the education itself. From higher secondary level the internships to be made mandatory to gather practical experiences. Therefore the Indian Education pedagogy needs radical change to create more entrepreneurs who can create jobs rather than jobseekers. do you agree? 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗗𝗚 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 🌍✨ Thank you to everyone who shared their thoughts in last week’s poll on aligning with the SDGs in accreditation! The results brought valuable perspectives to light: • 33% voted for ‘Focusing on a few high-impact SDGs • 17% chose ‘Integrating all relevant SDGs • 50% supported ‘Creating unique, school-specific impact measures. These insights reflect the diversity in strategic approaches schools take when aligning with global impact goals. Societal impact has become an integral part of accreditation, and aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) poses both opportunities and challenges for institutions. While some schools choose to dive deep into a select few SDGs to maximize their impact, others aim for a comprehensive alignment that showcases their broad commitment to global standards. Still, some carve out their own unique path, developing custom impact measures that resonate closely with their mission and strengths. Each approach has its merits: • Focusing on a few high-impact SDGs allows for depth and measurable change, making it easier to track and report significant outcomes. • Integrating a wide range of SDGs shows a holistic commitment but can spread resources thin. • Creating custom, school-specific measures fosters innovation but requires careful design to remain impactful and relevant. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁? The poll results show that there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Institutions need to consider their mission, resources, and strategic vision to determine the best path forward. The key takeaway? Whether schools choose to focus, integrate broadly, or innovate uniquely, the end goal remains the same: 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱. 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀? How is your institution approaching SDG alignment in its accreditation strategy? Are you seeing success with your chosen method? We would love to hear your experiences and insights! #SDGAlignment #BusinessEducation #Accreditation #SocietalImpact #askQED #QEDconnect

Last week in #Turin, we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the European Training Foundation alongside participants from across Europe and its neighbouring regions. We reflected on our journey, assessed the current landscape, and, most excitingly, envisioned the future. Together, we explored a future rich in potential, symbolized by the vibrant colours of the economies predicted to drive #innovation and #progress by 2050: 🌿 Green 🐠 Blue 🏜️ Yellow 📡 Gold 👵 Silver 🏥 White 🎦 Orange Amid these discussions, we asked a pivotal question: 🔎 What skills will be essential for success in 2050? While numerous technical and sector-specific skills were highlighted—alongside those related to digital literacy, safety, and sustainability—one 🔝 skill stood out above the rest: Critical Thinking💡 "Critical thinking is the art of making clear, reasoned judgments based on interpreting, understanding, applying, and synthesizing evidence gathered from observation, reading, and experimentation." In an age of information overload and pervasive #misinformation, the ability to analyse, discern truth from falsehood, form independent perspectives, and communicate them effectively is not just valuable—it is essential ‼️ I look forward to continuing the collaboration with our partners to strengthen education systems, empower skills development and improve youth employability across borders, for a future that is as vibrant and promising as the colours we envision for 2050 🌈 #etf30years #skills4future #education2050 #competitiveness European Commission EU Neighborhood & Enlargement Asian Development Bank (ADB) EBRD EVTA AEFP

It was yet another impactful experience yesterday as we gladly attended the last #Teach4SDGs training workshop. Our guest speaker was Madam Ruth Olowosile (Executive Dir. of 'The Sustainable Green Environment Initiative', Cofounder and Executive Dir. of SGI) She spoke on the topic: How To Design Climate Change and SDGs Program Curriculum for Schools and other Students. Key Takeaways includes but not limited to: 1. Integrate Climate Change and SDGs into existing curriculum 2. Use interactive and experiential learning methods 3. Focus on student-centered and inquiry-based learning 4. Emphasize critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration and Connect learning to real-world scenarios and applications 5. Encourage student-led initiatives and community engagement 6. Provide opportunities for reflection, self-assessment, and feedback Factors to consider while Designing Activities: 1. Align those activities with learning objectives and outcomes 2. Incorporate diverse perspectives and voices e.g inviting guest speakers to speak to the students. 3. Use storytelling and scenario-based learning 4. Encourage creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship 5. Foster partnerships and collaborations with external organizations Note: she emphasize that educators have to be cautious of their approach to teaching; being mindful of what they say and do. Being mindful of the age of their students and tailoring their teaching techniques to fit that age, not exposing them to thing beyond their understanding and need at the moment. And lots more.. I am really grateful to be part of this movement. #AIIDEV #AIIDEVAFRICA #TEACH4SDGs
