It’s so important that we continue use the prescious resource of Antibiotics wisely so they remain effective. Everyone has a role to play here. Humans should only use for bacterial infections ,always finish the course as prescribed , do not share. Only take antibiotics prescribed for you. Most headcolds , sore throats earaches and coughs are cause by viruses and your own body can fight viruses if you give it a chance by taking some rest , plenty of fluids and pain relief. Keep you and your loved ones up to date with vaccinations #KeepAntibioticsWorking

One Health by W.H.O. It is a collaborative, multisectoral, and transdisciplinary approach that recognizes the interconnection between human, animal, and environmental health. It emphasizes the need for cooperation across various sectors such as public health, veterinary medicine, environmental health, and other relevant disciplines to achieve optimal health outcomes for all. The World Health Organization (WHO) actively promotes the One Health approach as a comprehensive strategy to address health risks at the human-animal-environment interface, including zoonotic diseases, food safety, antimicrobial resistance, and environmental factors impacting health. The One Health approach acknowledges that the health of humans is closely linked to the health of animals and the environment, and that the collaborative efforts of multiple sectors are essential for effective prevention, detection, and response to health threats. By recognizing and addressing the interconnected nature of health, One Health aims to improve health outcomes for both people and animals, as well as to ensure the sustainability of the environment.

One Health Day is a global campaign that takes place on 3rd November. It is a concept that focuses on improving the health of humans and animals by integrating the sciences of human medicine, veterinary medicine and environmental studies. The One Health approach can help address many public health threats, including: Zoonotic diseases, Antibiotic resistance Vector-borne diseases, Food safety and security, Chronic disease, Mental health etc. The One Health approach is based on the idea that no one person, organization, or sector can address issues at the animal-human-environment interface alone. Successful public health interventions require cooperation among human, animal, and environmental health partners. The theme for One Health Day, 2024 is "Protecting humans, animals, and the environment for a healthier world for all".

🌍💊 The One Health Approach: A Holistic Fight Against AMR Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a complex global challenge that demands a unified response. This is where the One Health Approach plays a critical role, recognizing the deep connections between human health, animal health, and the environment. Our environment, food systems, and animal welfare are all part of the AMR puzzle: 🌱 Environment: Antibiotics used in agriculture and healthcare often end up in our soil and water, fueling resistance in the environment. Combatting AMR requires responsible waste management and reducing environmental contamination. 🍎 Food: Antibiotic use in food production impacts the safety of what we eat. Ensuring sustainable farming practices and reducing antibiotics in livestock helps protect the food chain and, ultimately, our health. 🐾 Animal Welfare: The health of animals directly affects human health. Improving animal welfare through proper care, vaccination, and reduced antibiotic dependence is key to reducing AMR transmission between animals and humans. The One Health Approach reminds us that everything is interconnected. Tackling AMR requires collaboration across sectors—human health, veterinary medicine, environmental science, and beyond. Together, we can: ✔️ Promote sustainable farming and food systems. ✔️ Advocate for responsible antibiotic use in all sectors. ✔️ Protect ecosystems and biodiversity. By safeguarding the health of animals and the environment, we protect ourselves and future generations. Let’s work together for a healthier, more sustainable world. 🌍💊 #OneHealth #AMR #GlobalHealth #AnimalWelfare #Environment #SustainableFarming European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) Gavin S. Dr. Laila Darwich, A4U Researcher in Veterinary/Animal Health and Anatomy at the Universitat Autônoma de Barcelona (UAB), presented on Preventative Healthcare, highlighting the threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). This occurs when bacteria become resistant to antibiotics, affecting both humans and animals. The World Health Organization warns that by 2050, AMR could cause 10 million deaths annually, with Africa and Asia hit hardest. Dr. Darwich emphasised the overuse of antibiotics in livestock and aquaculture as key contributors. Her research also uncovered alarming resistance in wildlife, such as European hedgehogs, signaling a wider environmental threat. To address AMR, Dr. Darwich urged stricter regulations and sustainable practices to protect global public health. #hsup #universityofpretoria #GlobalHealth #onehealth

🌍 Milk Quality: Differences Between Europe and CIS Standards Did you know that milk safety checks vary significantly between Europe and CIS countries? 🥛 Having worked in veterinary sanitation, I’ve noticed some key distinctions. In Europe, milk is rigorously tested for bacteria, pathogens, antibiotics, and somatic cell counts. Strict EU regulations ensure uniform safety standards across all stages — from farm to table. This results in highly consistent product safety, backed by advanced technology and oversight. In the CIS countries, inspections often focus more on freshness and hygiene during transportation and storage, as cold chain logistics can be less consistent. While lab testing is thorough, maintaining freshness in remote areas can be challenging due to infrastructure differences. ✨ Key Difference: European standards are more standardized and technologically advanced, while CIS countries often prioritize freshness and rapid local distribution. Which approach do you think works best? #MilkSafety #VeterinaryInspection #FoodStandards #DairyQuality
