Greg Newman is our Managing Consultant in the Commercial Management team, and we asked him what being an ally means and how he #inspiresInclusion. Here's his story 👇 At home, the dog and I are greatly outnumbered, as the house is predominantly female, with everyone at a different stage in life and its challenges. My amazing wife also runs a florist business from the house, the beautiful girls are 17 and 6 years old, and my inspirational mother-in-law has disabilities. Being an ally to these ladies, in any way I can, gives me an immense amount of pride every day. At work, the company has such a strong people strategy, with inclusive policies and goals which match my values, so being an ally for the company and my team, also makes me very proud. 👉 *What support or advocacy have you seen or provided to women you have worked with and what impact has this made?* Since joining Croftstone in 2022, it has been clear that their policies for diversity and inclusion are not tick-box exercises and I have seen tangible opportunities in for women at Croftstone. Within my team, 50% of the staff are women, and the three team members who were promoted to 2023, were all female. This is unique in our sector and gives me immense pride to know I had a hand in mentoring and supporting one of the women in my team. Whilst within our Cardiff office, we also recently hosted a Women In Transport event. Culturally, I have seen the site working environment also change a lot during my time in construction. 👉 * What would be your top tips to other colleagues and organisations to continue to build a more inclusive workplace and #InvestInWomen? * To remember that employees are people, usually with aspirations to grow within the company, which will inevitably have its ups and downs along the way. It is therefore necessary to create an environment where women are comfortable in raising matters that may be affecting them, be it with their direct line manager or if not, then a champion for diversity and inclusion.

Happy Women's Day! As we celebrate the remarkable achievements of women worldwide, we're excited to share thoughts by Sneha K, AVP - Human Resources at Wheebox as we asked her a few questions: "As a woman, my first choice for myself would be working in any such organization where fairness must be given, not just as a product to be given but as a goal to be achieved, and if fairness is the goal, equality, and equity are two processes through which we can achieve it. When I was about to join Wheebox in 2014, I was so much skeptical regarding the ecosystem of this organization. But with each passing day, I felt more confident and realized that this is how women should be treated in any organization. The kind of compassion shown to the female employees was amazing. Even at the time of COVID-19, the way how Wheebox had managed the working space for a woman was commendable. Also, it's an ecosystem as a whole. The female retention ratio of the Wheebox made this organization noticed by the world's largest Ed-tech ETS, which ultimately led to a global association in the last quarter of 2023. So, I always believe that If Wheebox leaves no stone unturned for the overall development of each employee, we too have a moral responsibility to keep on putting in our hard work with our utmost belief. So, let's celebrate this women's day with a passion to show our dedication towards our work and making our place in this society by putting our effective efforts". #happywomensday #wheebox

Empowering Insights: Optibus' Women's Day Panel Sheds Light on Workplace Challenges and the Path Forward In today's professional landscape, the hurdles women encounter remain significant, yet solutions often lie in the perspectives of those directly affected. Recognizing this, Optibus was inspired when our "Women in Transport" group initiated the idea of a panel discussion for International Women's Day. Led and moderated by Yael Masin, Katerina Kampouri, and Georgina Steadman, the session delved into real experiences from our female staff, tackling restrictive stereotypes, discrimination, and harassment — issues that, while disproportionately affecting women and minorities, have the potential to impact anyone in our workplace. The panel served as a poignant reminder that while many of the experiences discussed occurred outside of Optibus, they offer invaluable lessons on where and how we can strive for improvement within our own company. At Optibus, our resolve is firm: to cultivate a work environment where such challenges are not just addressed but eradicated. This commitment was mirrored in our panel, a forum that welcomed all employees and facilitated a sharing of impactful, eye-opening stories. It highlighted how critical support is — not just in overcoming these challenges but in fostering an inclusive, empowering workplace culture. The takeaways from this panel were clear and compelling: support is not just necessary; it's transformative. And the responsibility to offer this support lies with each of us.
